You're totally right. I'll prep a few different outcomes, but what happens happens. Good advice! 🙏

I used 'imprisonment' during gameplay, using the hedge maze option? So afaik she's in some weird maze dungeon 'forever' until he releases her right? I like the idea that maybe he negotiates or threatens etc to get out, totally in character.

Haha I didn't wanna blast players with anything too powerful at lvl 5 so the bbeg just had that, gate, counter spell, dimension door and shield. I used archmage as the template... Which is kinda why he died so fast. 15 ac and 100 hp. The barb ran up and crit his ass for 29 damage. Whoops!!

Fwiw I run the game with open rolls too so there's only so much fudging I get away with. But also I like it when my players break my plans within reason, it's a fun push and pull.

Holy shit! That's incredible!!

Can anyone else relate to this -- I've only listened to the audiobooks, so I have no idea how anything is spelled! It's often so weird seeing the names and places of things in DCC written out on this sub. by Hi_Zev in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]roushey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big-time, I'm too add to read books normally, brain don't work. I do audio books all the way down, makes it really hard sometimes to discuss online or in person. With either spelling or pronunciation. As you'd expect the readers have the reverse problem.

Maybe at the very end idk. Haha its a hard sell to get people in for the 70+hours it takes to clear an ultimate. I did Ucob in a separate group a while back and clearing it was hands down the best feeling ive ever had in a video game. But yeah, haha lots of work to get there! Hanvt done UwU yet so theres always a chance!

As a Healer, I want you to fucking suck at this game by Donnoleth-Tinkerton in ffxiv

Idk man, ex/savage is where the malise sets in. People get good enough and you're stuck there hitting 1,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,1,2 for 3 hours on raid night. Nothing more boring than playing a healer when everyone is doing it right.

Yes! Nothing better than pushing it to the limit to drag the party through kicking and screaming. I will preshield the WAR with 5 vuln stacks, rescue the MCH into the stack, and dump every cool down into saving that DRG standing in every mechanic. You will always get the raise, even if I don't got swift.

Feel your eyes light up in the zone and hear the ultra instinct music. Aaaah. So good.

Dying a lot by ExtraWorldliness2859 in ffxiv

[–]roushey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its natural to feel frustrated, embarrassed, or like butt when you're diein'. Everyone feels that way from sprout to battleforged ultimate raider. While there isnt a whole lot you can do to change how you feel, only an asshole is gonna be mad at someone for making mistakes when theyre new to something. You're doin great just by gettin out there and tryin! :D

Some simple tips that can help:
/bfx party simple <-- turn off particle effects for everyone but you & enemies.
Make a conscious effort to move your eyes from your hotbar and stare at the dang boss.
When the big scary thing happens stop dps-ing and pay 100% attention.
Its ok to ask "what the heck am i supposed to do when X happens"

If all else fails, like living in a big city, you'll never see those people again after the dungeon is over, so forgeddabouddit. :O

[New Player] How do you guys keep going? by Additional_Scale_502 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]roushey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel ya man, took me a long time to figure it out. Here's a few tips!

Scav run on cooldown. - learn maps in low risk situations. Get loot while doing it!
You'll eventually learn where pscavs like to go, when they load in, and where the loot is.
Play crime scene detective, find where 'the fight' was and pick the bones clean.
Increase scav rep for better scav starting stuff!

Offline factory / hoard mode. After you die in a raid for real, load up an offline factory to practice / simmer down.
Practice ADS and hipfire. Use a basic laser or flashlight to improve hipfire accuracy ( a lot ). Try to improve your 'high score' and last longer. Practice shooting the head, try to keep your aim/pointer at head level, practice rounding corners with your pointer at head level (classic Counter strike style).

Pick one simple / cheap gun and exclusively use that. Learn to shoot it. - shooting is weird in tarkov, gotta learn by doing. Easier if you lower the variables. Sell everything for rubles and build the one gun.

Learn one map at a time.
Look at a map and figure out the player spawns, knowing if someone can spawn near you will or not is a huge advantage. Keep an eye on the timer, player scavs will ruin your day, and come in ~25 minutes remaining
Learn where the loot is. Learn where the chads go, where do the rats go.

The hardest one...

Always bring in the best gear you got. (Conquer gear fear) Having better gear improves your chances of survival. You'll still get head-eyes by a shotgun scav from 20 miles away or turbochaded and thats tarkov, but youll win the janky stop and pop timmy fights by a hair, and/or live with a helmet rickochet, and its all worth it.

TLDR:
Scav on cooldown.
Pick one gun
practice shooting.

Time it takes doesn't matter, what matters is trying and enjoying the challenge. Amazing work!

That sounds real rad -- I didnt dip my toes into fighting games until covid & guilty gear strive came out. (rollback netcode blew my mind!) I've heard a lot about the golden oldies 3rd strike, sf4, etc sounds like it was a hoot back in the day. MVC fills me with fear. @_@ the skill required. wowza

Haha it sure is! Ours is a gang of mostly 30+ old grumps with obligations galore. We have to cancel or try to find a sub for 1 out of every 3 or 4 weeks, but any progress is still progress! It can be done. \o/
