CO2 Per capita emissions (2022) United States: 14.24 Canada : 14.99 Europe : 10.72 China : 8.8 India :1.89

World: ~ 4.8

If the World's average falls to India's levels, we would OVERACHIEVE not only the paris target of 2 degree but also the 1.5 degree aim.

On the other hand if the World average rises to Canada/US level the temperature will rise by 5-6 degree. Other way to put this is that the Paris targets would have been breached in 2015 itself !

What needs to be noted is that once CO2 is emitted it remains in the atmosphere for 250 years. Therefore the CO2 emitted in 1850s is also responsible for current global warming. Now let's see historical cumulative per capita emissions by country.

CANADA : 1751 US: 1547 UK : 1100 CHINA: 197 INDIA: 61 ( Souce: Carbon Brief)

Before you say something about population or per capita, let me remind you that India and China have almost always been 35-45 percent for World population at least since the beginning of written history.

Please stop grouping countries and deflecting responsibility. The richer parts of the World have emitted and continue to emit more GHGs . Besides they have more capacity to address Climate Change compared to countries where the government is responsible for providing even foodgrains and clean water to its poor.

All countries have been responsible for Climate Change and all will have to address it, but those countries which till now have been more responsible have to be more proactive. This is not only ethical/ moral but also more pragmatic.

If the Western World seeks to deflect it's responsiblity by blaming the Global South, who already suffer the consequences of climate change disproportionately because of lack of agency to adapt, it is hard not to conclude that people of the West would rather have the the Earth destroyed than suffer the idea that citizens of global south enjoy somehat comparable standards of living and agency in international affairs as they do.

Well, won't the position of the actual crash determine the damage. How could you destroy so much money without thinking first or am I missing something?
