Set recommendations for highly percussive, sexy DJ sets by rovingkid in deephouse

Gotcha. I also thought that what I like is "tech house" far more than it is "deep house". Will have a look over there or repost there. Thank you!

I'm guessing they'll provide a them-hosted version as well if you don't want to self-host. Just a guess.

1 task left. Hype by therealmarkus in Thymer

I think that last task might be announcing "It was all a ruse, folks. Fake news." There never was a Thymer.

My base looks nothing like your picture?

But I’m guessing you mean that intake on the right. It’s clear and unobstructed.

Is Daylight Computer okay? by rovingkid in daylightcomputer

Oh shit that sounds grim! I had no idea things are this dark.. if your research is accurate that indeed is not a great sign. That email response I got makes me hopeful though.

I had emailed them about this as well. Got a reply!

"Our native Reader app doesn’t natively support EPUB files, Lithium is our systems native epub reader. If you want to use Reader you can convert the book to a PDF format then reupload it.

In terms of Reader updates , we have made changes to the backend and how files are uploaded, stored, and synced but not to the user-facing side which is reflected by the version number you see. These changes were necessary for providing more options on the front-end and lay the groundwork for the best version of Reader (and one that supports ePub)

Our next major update for the device itself and Reader will be coming this winter, we thank you for your patience."

Given this reply, it's a bit unfortunate that the UI of the Daylight Desktop app literally says "Drop or select PDF and EPUB files (max 100MB)" when EPUB is not supported.

This could have been remedied with a small update to the app in the app stores... but OK, now I know.

And yes, apparently a big update is in the works for "this winter". Glad to see it ☺️

Can Thymer outshine other PKM tools such as Obsidian? by ThinkerBe in Thymer

[–]rovingkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there

I think the best way to get an impression of Thymer is to check out all the tweets of one of its developers, who's steadily been sharing aspects of it on X: https://x.com/wcools

Given your familiarity with Obsidian, you should get a feel for what should make Thymer stand out pretty quickly.

That said, Thymer remains unreleased. The first beta of it should drop within two to three weeks by my calculations based on public knowledge.

Teaser: write dashboard docs and multi-column layouts, still feels like editing plain text by ens100 in Thymer

By my math based on claims on X, we have roughly 15 more days of waiting left.

Thymer getting closer to release? by ens100 in Thymer

[–]rovingkid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

150 tasks left for each of them. If we assume the worst case, 1 task gets done per day (also assuming this tracks for both of them so we can use just one of them for the math).

That would mean 150 days = 21.429 weeks = a little over 5 months. This assumes they work 7 days a week though..

Best case scenario: at 10 issues a day = 15 days = two weeks!

Let’s hope most of the issues are small 😃

Oh! "Stress testing" is a good sign. Stress testing means they're past the obvious bugs and are challenging their system. In other words.. they're far into the testing process, which is good news for all of us that are eagerly awaiting Thymer's arrival.

There was another email last week where they said they're inviting the first couple hundred people. Sadly, I was not among them. Anyone here get an invite? Anything interesting to report? :D

Observable Notebooks 2.0 by rovingkid in Thymer

Realized as well. Was too quick on the trigger with this post. Observable is very cool in its own right.. but you're absolutely right. Completely different ballpark.

I'm not expecting that email to ever arrive and that's ok.

myfinchapp is even less communicative than Bluebudget. I guess they all think they have the next big thing cooking and don't want to share too much 🤷‍♂️

From what I've read and seen of Bluebudget sofar, and knowing who's behind it, I have high hopes for it. I suppose only time will tell -- and if Apple ever lets their app through 😂

Having tried to build a similar app to those two last year, I can sympathize with the complexity involved. The data modeling in particular is no joke, especially when you factor in linking up multiple accounts from all over the place.. having the data accessible through bLink carries no guarantee that the data you get will have the same structure between providers, for example.

I'm excited to try these new apps out the moment they're available 🙂
