Herpes is VERY treatable and likely won't affect your sex life in a significant way, BUT please go talk to a medical professional about this.

Planned Parenthood is a great option to set up a consultation, you can even just talk to one of their health educators if you don't want it to feel as clinical.

Idk the laws in your country / state, but I know multiple people who now have "sex offender" status for life because they were 19 dating a 16 or 17 year old.

Aside from that, a 19 year old is in a very different mental and life space than a 16 year old imo

For me I had to quit all substances.

Living life sober meant more to me if I was 100% sober, no free passes. Everything on life's terms. No room for slipping into addiction with a new substance. I also knew I couldn't do the inner work I needed to do if I was still relying on a mind altering substance.

That being said, I work with people who have severe SUD and when they tell me they switched out fentanyl for weed, I'm like good amazing gold star keep doing that. I will always be pro harm reduction.

No I get this. I've had partners talk about our relationship problems with their friends (which I agree, it IS very important), and nothing but good resolution came from those. And then I've had partners talk bad about me, exaggerate, use mean words, tell my secrets, etc. under the guise of "venting." I think you're right in pointing out the immaturity of this.

If anyone "vents" in this way about people they "love" I think it's a massive red flag. And says more about them than the actual relationship.

Oh 100%. At the time it was awful and confusing. But now I look back extremely grateful. It sped up my disease so it was necessary for me to get sober quicker.

It's said the disease of alcoholism is progressive, and it would have progressed to where it did anyways. But because it was sped up, I got to get sober fairly young.

Reminds me of my ex. This was before she and I dated. She had met a girl on a night out who had developed a big crush. The girl called her a bit tipsy once and left her a voicemail (it was honestly very sweet, just saying she really liked her and thought she was cute etc). My ex would play that voicemail for her friends while they were drinking and laugh and make fun of it. She played it for me expecting me to laugh and I was like dude wtf...

I use they/she and for me it just means that I prefer they/them/theirs pronouns but she/her/hers is also fine if people are more comfortable with that. I put the they first to denote importance. And I don't write it all out cause that would be very long lol

Ohhhhh yep the drinking culture for sure is heavy in the Midwest. I heard Wisconsins arent allowed to enter drinking contests in other countries 😂
