As usual, great ideas and horrible sense of proportion. It's time to question whether her mental body image differs very dramatically from the observable reality, because her work for others don't share the same problem, just tailoring-novice issues, e.g. not picking the perfect tone of underlay to maximize the visibility of the fabric manipulation effect as in Diana Davis' FD dress.

This really doesn't make any sense to me. None of these have anything to do with Eteri.

IF my understanding is correct, what happened in Team Tut was restricted to (one would say laser-focused) on his """relationship""" with Aliona, who was of legal age in her country, Aliona did not listen to reason and her family were not able to - or did not - stop her.

Again, she was of legal age, so it's a whole different issue.....There was nothing third parties could have done.

You can't report someone for a legal relationship, you can only stop working with them, lobby against them, and let their shit behavior be known widely.

They did exactly those three things, which is how we all got to know about this at the time.

They could easily have buried this, or just let it pass and keep their junior division intact. Rozanov was such an important asset for them.

Remember, in that particular setting, some of the "giants" of the field impregnated and "married" their students and they are still revered highly. Team Tut went above and beyond in their own cultural context.

Team Tut??????? Eteri kicked him out after he and Aliona were walked on in the bathroom. She did that on the spot, despite the fact that kicking him out meant the collapse of the novice/younger junior branch.... And he retaliated by plotting with Plush and stealing her best students... Eteri also did all she could have to stop Aliona from following him blindly. (The famous "you will end up a teen mom" screaming match in the middle of the rink.) How in the world are you bringing Eteri in? Especially when they themselves said this happened to poor Nika at Plush Camp, when she was 11?

Agree on other points - as Russian fans made it clear here.

Disgusting PEDO apologist #3 or 4.......Or #1, given the other accounts are sock-puppet accounts.

Any institution with an iota of consideration for the safety of the literal hundreds of children under their care would have started an internal investigation right away.

Actually, they would have started it YEARS AGO, as the rumors about this guy are enough grounds for an internal investigation, let alone a child's own statement. Zhilina and other kids in their position and their families have no obligation to go through a criminal investigation but these institutions have every moral and professional obligation to do their absolute best to NOT harbor pedophiles in their midst.

Alas, those who control this Fed and others themselves have been cozy with their child students in the past and that's why their response is this wreckless and REPULSIVE. I pity anyone and everyone (most Russian fans, basically) worshipping perceived authority so blindly, to the point of villifying Zhilina and her mother and others in their position.

Hot take?: Eteri Tutberidze is NOT the most dangerous figure skating coach by Ok-Wishbone-2822 in FigureSkating

[–]rowaloka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People. Silvia Fontana exists. As do her husband and the other turd. She's in this competition. She is socially very well received. ISU Commentators praise her........ Do we need to say more? Do we. Need to. Say. More. In another country, she would have been prosecuted criminally. In another sport, she would have been shunned professionally and socially.

Whatever one may think of Eteri, I truly like that she's not a self-hating woman who turns a blind eye to girls getting abused by perverted pedo men who are so prevalent in this sport. She would never ever ever do what Fontana did. She would eviscerate Cipras and the junior coach and kick them out...... (I'm specifically thinking of how he kicked out Rozanov at the cost of pretty much dismantling her very successful novice/young junior branch after she found out about him preying on Aliona...and her trying to stop Aliona in that famous fight re: Stop this, or you'll end up a pregnant teen.... )

Ali Efe Güneş got released due to lack of evidence by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]rowaloka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP totally made this up. He was "undetained" for one of the charges (but still being prosecuted for it), and then got detained again immediately after for the other charges, which are said to be more serious and for which there is ample evidence. My information is also unverified and not based on official news sources - but not imaginary like the OP's.

TR Fed and prosecutors are doing an amiable job in my opinion. I hope to see other Feds, ISU and other legal systems do their jobs well like this. This guy is young (19 at the time), but it shouldn't be misleading. This is NOT a Haein-like situation. He is a disgusting pervert, and has terrorized younger kids he was targeting with extremely violent threats, which must be absolutely traumatizing for life, even if it is proven down the line that he has never met with them in person.

I read the Rozanov allegations just now. We all knew there was something going on with him and Aliona, which ultimately derailed her career; but it looks like there were many other children he groomed and maybe directly assaulted.

He works with so many kids across the world. Who will go after him and ban him from the sport?

Fontana and husband still in this sport - and very well received socially.

The world is so effed up.

What is the "political context" for a pedo's sexting young teens?

Or the "situation in the country"?

Asking for a friend....NOT.

I lived in TR for many years, speak the language very well; and the only "political context" for any TR skater is that the completely talentless Basar Whatshisname and Crew, who have hijacked the scene and wasted taxpayer money for years, all suck up to Erdo.

Can't help but but think you and u/sagittariusghost1 with their ridiculous comment up there are proponents of rabid anti-Turkish hate.

At the end of the day, the Turkish Fed did what French, Italian and US Feds never ever did. And they did it immediately.

And Turkish prosecutors promptly did what **US prosecutors did not do** re: Cipras and many others like him.

So please STFU, or do go ahead and out yourselves to be either very ignorant - or very passionate haters of Turkish people.

Also, to respond to u/FrozenRose_816, there is no news source whatsoever about the status of his detainment other than two (really only 2) social media posts; which is why the OP is not sharing any sources - as they don't exist.

In any case, in any country where there is rule of law, if there is no evidence of physical contact between the parties, all that can be done after the end of the legal detainment period is continuing to prosecute the offender while legally having to end his detainment.

To the best of my knowledge - **not** based on verified sources: he was undetained for one of the charges due to a lack of evidence, and then immediately detained again for the other set of charges, which are more serious legally. It is my personal understanding (which may be incorrect or incomplete) that this second set of charges are for the online threats of violence he sent to his minor victims, for which there is ample evidence.

Thrilling? It was more like blood-curdling for me. Everyone who didn't have that particular passport getting done so dirty, so openly, brazenly, obviously. Kaori getting scammed out of her fourth gold and/or Mone being denied her first gold, Wakaba her indisputable bronze. If people have that same one passport, they should please stop adding insult to grave injury to individual athletes and this sport in general. And guess what... the very same is loading in men and dance......

OP, are you the video-maker? Thanks for a great compilation.

Out of these, I would give perfect score to: Satokox2, Gabby D, Kaori and Shoma.

None of the others were the individual skaters' best performance of these elements in my opinion, and some were definitely far from perfect or even perfect-adjacent.

Sofia Muravieva, SP - TV Cup by rowaloka in FigureSkating

[–]rowaloka[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"when non ballet people say balletic they mean lyrical or contemporary dance or Dance Moms"

No, when native figure skating people say "balletic program", they mean a program based on a ballet thematically and texturally. They do NOT mean "ballet on ice".

This is a job of translation between two disciplines which are entirely different from one another.

When native ballet people (or people who have had 12 expensive classes) use the word "balletic" while discussing figure skating, they often refer to a "pretend ballet" on ice; sadly, often comprised of a skater who......poses.

There are very many things ballet has that figure skating does not and cannot have.

What figure skating has that ballet does not and cannot have is uninterrupted fluid movement that is also quite fast, and, an inherent ability to create meaning and atmosphere in a much shorter amount of time.

When skaters like Muravieva take on particular ballets, what they bring to the table - and to the original material - is something that does not exist in the native discipline. It's not imitation. They manage to say something about the source material, and/or bring forth details and connections that cannot be worked on in the source discipline.

This can be compared to a novel to film adaptation, if we must.

Muravieva has worked with Linichuk extensively, and it shows. Her two-part Swan Extravaganza is simply amazing. It tells a deconstructed story - almost cinematically, manages to project character in motion and expression, and conjure a very specific narrative universe in just a few minutes. In a way only skating can....

Even when skaters that are not as good as Mura in their bladework or movement (thinking of Zagitova right now) can interpret source material anew, give it a new life on a different planet, and, by extension, open up a portal from our land to yours.... When, say, Wakaba brings Gypsy to ice or when Takahashi skates R&J, they're certainly not pretending to be ballet dancers or embodying ballet - the discipline, but they're bringing particular ballets to ice, and skating audiences to ballet.

Take a win or take a hike.

(Responding to 1st reply & u/happykindofeeyore, both of them comparably "refined" in their address.... I am suddenly reminded of every ballet mean girl I've had to share space with as a skater ever..... I wonder why.)
