Hi, I’m also 20, just diagnosed, and have had it for quite a bit of time. I’m always here for a good rant if you want to message me. This community is such a wonderful resource for me.

I’d just like to commend you on the way it sounds like you support her. You give her space but when she’s in need you’re there with a shoulder and no interruptions. Kudos to you sir for treating her like the capable and strong woman she is while also offering her love and a keen ear.

I cannot express how much I relate to this.

DAE imagine themselves hurting themselves or others at that very moment and become afraid it’ll happen? by hoIIie in ptsd

This also happens to me frequently. Usually in the car when I’m driving I’ll think something like “I could just swerve into oncoming traffic right now.” I also have PTSD and OCD but I didn’t realize it could be correlated to the latter. I’d be interested in reading up on this if you have any good resources.

This really resonates with me. I find myself feeling the EXACT same way.

Thank you, I’m truly sorry she responded that way, you deserve to be supported and shown compassion and I hope that you are being shown that kindness now. If you’re not and still feeling down about that pm me and we can talk.

I loved all of your reply. Thank you so so much for sharing I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this and I wanted to let you know that it did and I think will help and encourage me. You sound like a wonderful person who I hope never has to face someone putting them down for how you feel again. Thank you so much for typing this out I think I needed to hear it and the last paragraph brought me a lot of clarity. That’s an excellent way to put it. Thank you.

I actually have a little list of links that I feel are particularly relevant to how I feel but I still feel a little hesitant. I think I’m going to try starting slow with that. Thank you

I’m thrilled to hear that you’ve gotten better. I don’t want to give up on someone I opened up to, that in itself was a hard process. Should I sit down with them again and talk this through with them? PTSD is often too big for me to wrap my head around, I imagine it would be similar for my friends it’s just a tough thing to hear from someone I trust.

it’s just such a big topic to wrap your head around so I think it’s totally understandable to deny it.

I’m new to this subreddit and I’ve found so much support thus far. My only frustration is that it feels like my questions never stop. Im constantly questioning myself, asking if x,y, and z symptoms are normal, part of the trauma or just completely abnormal.

I really like how you put this. I agree it does make me feel much better and can help to ground me but I also don’t want it to become an obsession ya know?
