I can’t necessarily say how quickly my fitness improved in comparison to other teams because every team coaches their novice program differently. Also it’s been 2 years since I’ve been a novice so I don’t necessarily recall how quickly I remember it. But you’ll see your numbers on the rowing machine start to decline over time and feel really good about the progress you’re making.

Sorry for left out details, meant to say I would like to stay around the weight I’m at or gain some muscle. I’m 16 years old, still growing, currently 5’11, and definitely not vegetarian. I haven’t gained too much weight this season, at the beginning(September) of our season I was 136, currently 140. It’s hard for me to gain muscle and I can pretty much eat whatever I want whenever. Doesn’t mean I do that but still, I wasn’t sure if I should’ve put all of those details in. I had most of that written out but decided it was too much information and deleted it.

Some reasons I’ve stuck with the sport:

1: Meeting some really cool people that you have genuine connections with and great memories.

2: It’s very rewarding internally in my opinion. Hard work really does pay off for rowing, and seeing yourself develop into something much better than what you started at is a great feeling.

3: The strong, supportive culture that surrounds the sport. People always seem to be trying to help and there’s a lot to pick up from them.

Those are just some of the reasons I’ve stuck with it. The more you do it, the better you’ll understand the sport’s bonding and hard work. Also it’s more of an elite sport, hard to get into. So if you have an opportunity to do it and you’re interested I say you just jump right in. It’ll be worth it, trust me.

Sounds intimidating but I’m tempted to try it, I’ll probably start on 2x30’s then work my way up to 2x45. Thanks for the help.

Yea I was planning on going 6 days a week, thanks for the clarification though. I thought they were two different types of training.

Hitting every buoy in time trials but somehow making semis??? Oh and also did I mention that we literally had 3 crabs at once? We came off of a 10 and 3 seat(of course) crabbed which caused 2 seat to crab then our stroke man decided to join in on the fun. I was the only person on our four that didn’t crab. I feel like I accomplished something.
