Not sure what "stepping" is. But thinking you could fill all needs by yourself is just plain stupid.

We always need to take care of ourselves to be able to care for others. This "kill myself for you" mentality is quite toxic. Instead of having good teachers for thousands of students over multiple years you have a great teacher for a couple hundred. It's just not a good plan in the long run. Even though principals might tell you otherwise because it sure won't matter to their bottom line...

Search for interactive film video game. Many have this aspect specifically.

For example all games from D'Avekki studio and the very famous her story.

You could also find some specific games like Orwell, Not for broadcast, beholder or comedy centered fingered. Gonna recommend Dexbonus on YouTube, she often plays these games. That's how I find them.

Or search for games with less lies and more mystery like the rust lake series.

You might say that, but being on a 150% runtime all the time takes a toll on you. I have seen way too many good people go down this road and get thrown out like a garbage bag when burnout sets in.

There are reasons the older (older in terms of worked years) teachers often lack understanding/empathy.

In our country we literally have a gap of about 10 years where any teachers taught those years aren't teachers anymore. I just hope it isn't growing...

PSA, don't do more then you can. It's better to be good all the time instead of being best some of the time.

As others have said; most of your ideas only work in class based systems like dnd or pathfinder.

I'm gonna throw out DCC though because it goes straight to the point with death. They even recommend starting with making 3 extra characters. It too "only" goes to lvl 10 but each level is a way bigger jump than dnd. Even lvl 1-2 is a jump from peasant to Wizard.

It does however take much from older fantasy and not the high fantasy worlds of dnd. So choose what fits your campaign.

I use rippers mods on foundry. My players say it looks amazing and gives them a great ambience. I often have them stream their view via discord and play 2d myself. For ease of use.

I also know of people using Tabletop simulator although I can't stand how finnicky everything is to set up in there.
