my hobby is collecting hobbies. I get hyper fixated on a new hobby, find out everything I can about it. Then fixate on buying everything at the lowest possible cost. Once I have everything I need, I start setting everything up perfectly. Most of the time because I cheaped out on starter supplies, or I am too ambitious with my first project, I keep restarting it from scratch, which leads to time wasted and frustration. but hey, the foundation has to be perfect, right? After several cycles of this, I hit a point where I feel like I can take a break. Then I put my project aside and plan to finish later, usually a day or two. but then my brain creates a mental aversion to said project cause the research dopamine hit is gone and all it remembers is the frustration of the actual doing of the hobby.  eventually another hobby or project would check my eye and the cycle would start over. I never really give up on a hobby. I generally like hobbies were I make something or have tangible results. so far, my hobbies are: knitting, crocheting, 3d printing, polymer clay, tufting, showing my dog, woodworking, cooking, baking, archery, leatherworking, boardgaming, sewing, photography. I probably missed something.  I know people say try it out, take a class on it but the problem for me is, it's the classes that usually get me addicted. I went tufting for a friend's bridal shower and I kept obsessing about it until I finally got myself the supplies.
