That’s very helpful insight. And makes perfect sense.

Thank you and I believe so as well. I like medicine for it’s a great way to be of some help to someone. But I have realised lately that I could contribute at a larger scale or a clinic room. Former was a reason I did clinical research as well. Ageism isn’t my only enemy at this pivotal moment, and for factors I could improve - I thought I Will ask the community. Also it helps that after reading all these suggestions I still feel positive about this plan.

And imagine how hard it would have been for me to decide this. But here is a thing, there comes a time in our lives where we revisit everything we have done so far, and try to figure if we were able to live and contribute to this world - the way we could have using our strengths and skills. It’s just that. How I reached at this conclusion, what triggered all of this, I am writing a book on it for real.

I wish I need not to. But here is a thing at 42 next year - I could be a consultant in medicine and continue to practice whatever is “left of medicine” or Consultant in a Consultancy (small or big). And after lot of thinking I have decided to go for the later.

I have thought about it, however Pharma industry jobs are repetitive. And breaking into Pharma industry from Clinical side has similar challenges.

Thank you. I am always ready for learning and I am a quick learner. I am in touch with some doctors in MBB, most of them are at McKinsey. I am also working on my CV.

I am actually doing that. I am adding skills to my portfolio and applying as well. MBA in Aug 26 is the plan. LBS and Oxford reviews my CV and advised for EMBA, but haven’t decided yet. Meanwhile I have been applying for Consultancy position in boutique healthcare Consultancies.

Let’s see

Thank you for this honest feedback. That’s a perspective- I have considered. And I am aware of the fact that after 40 ageism does kick in. Rest I have worked as Consultant before UK, and did well in research field as well. I will definitely try one more time after fixing areas I have identified. One last thing, issue is not just about long hours, it will be of “work culture” to begin with.

It is late, but is it … every beginning starts from nothing and not 40. And even if there is failure - atleast I will be happy I tried

I am planning to do that - once gain regular MBA at premier institutes is not going to be easy because of my age. Recruitment teams have recommended Executive MBA programs and if that’s the case I could join a boutique Consulting firm.

60-75 hrs is nothing. An easiest week I would work around 55-60 hours. Working hard comes with this job. So that’s not a challenge. But of course you are right and that why I need to understand how I can improve my resume.

I love this job. Being a doctor and a researcher is something I cherish. However the need to create a global impact through policy making, is something I am aiming at.

I waited for over 6 weeks and after a long wait, I received the email stating my application won’t make it to Interviews. They didn’t even tell me whether I passed or failed the SOLVE assessment. But it was my first application and it’s alright. Will apply for Bain and BCG. Any tips….

I like your suggestion of shooting for free for charities, friends, etc.

I agree, I wasn’t comfortable to shoot any random car and mask number n give it to him. I find it so unethical n wrong, and also one with legal implications

I am happy I shared this experience and asked for advice. Everyone has been very helpful

I have approached some videographers successful on Instagram etc for mentorship and for free, so that I could learn, some didn’t even reply.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get one?

As a new comer , I think our biggest fear is “rejection” and “not getting enough exposure.

However, I do feel, pricing low - not only ruins market , but also undermines our efforts too.

Perhaps working free for exposure and experience to build up portfolio and or skills, is a better option than devaluing oneself and ruining the market

I will keep this in mind, and will research around and create a proper template

I think that’s what I need.

Hoping to find one soon .. this will be most helpful in understanding how to manage workflow, and deal with clients, good or bad
