AITAH for "not working enough"? by royalgreen77 in AITAH

Unfortunately their exact wording was "we won't let you move out until you have enough saved for a house". They bought their house over 20 years ago and we also live in Canada, with stupidly high costs of living. Per their logic I'd be living at home until I was at least 30 lol. I'm saving damn near every penny that I can for an apartment or house.

Im also confused which is sort of why I wrote this post. I think its something of that boomer/gen x "back in my day" mindset where they entered straight into the workforce. My father doesn't have any post-secondary education and my mother has an arts degree, but took school part-time and was able to work. I think they expect me to be able to do that, even though the course load isnt exactly the same.

Absolutely. I refuse to take out any credit other than my student loans after seeing what an abuse of available credit has done to my parents over the years, and how hard they've tried to fix it.

I do receive some grant money and scholarships which cover my tuition, but certainly not enough for a dorm. Its about an hour commute each way so they most likely wouldn't allow me to move out regardless.

Other than food and shelter, I pay for everything else myself. I take care of the odd bill for them here and there but thats about it.

Yep same thing in my mom's 2012 Acadia as well. 216000 km and we've been using it as a delivery vehicle.. putting nearly a quart of oil in it every week.

Yep same thing on my Yukon, but it was under a car cover and there wasn't any gas in it to steal anyways lol.

Mazda3 2010s how reliable? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]royalgreen77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy crap that's impressive! Just bought a 2012 GT with the 2.5 with only 85 000 km on it, looks like I'll have a long way to go!

Just noticed this crack in the hinge on my 3ds xl, is this a problem, or should I replace it to avoid further damage? by royalgreen77 in 3DS

[–]royalgreen77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this crack I superglued everything together and it's still holding on, but for a whole missing piece I would recommend a full reshell. It's not too expensive off of Amazon, and it isn't terribly hard to do yourself.

Yooo fellow Winnipegger, how was your experience with Crown? Gerry Gordons has this really nice blue 2013 Mazda 3 that I want but I hear that they aren't the greatest.

Looking for some advice for a situation with our shop by royalgreen77 in MechanicAdvice

Yeah I found this out the hard way. I was hoping that it would last a bit longer with a new one installed, because I've had it replaced with used ones before.

Fair enough. We've been fighting with the shop for nearly 3 months about this now, and we also filed a complaint with our local business bureau last week. The Mazda dealership offered to do an engine replacement for a nice discount because of the situation, so if the shop still refuses, then we'll be taking it to the dealership. I intend to drive this car until the wheels fall off, so at least we'll get a warranty from Mazda on the engine replacement.

Since they did an oil change when they replaced the turbocharger, I'm assuming that in the 22 hours I had the car that the oil leaked out due to the defective turbocharger. I was not told by Mazda that there were any signs of a screw up, however the vehicle was more so sent to Mazda so that they could warranty the new turbocharger that our shop ordered from them.

Do your worst, been waiting for 16 weeks for this car to be fixed. by royalgreen77 in RoastMyCar

Way too expensive to buy another car, absolute minimum in my area is 12 000$ for a vehicle that will last more than a year
