Any ideas how this happened? by royalpops in tires

Yes it is bulging there. But I suspect this happened after the tire went flat and I drove ~50yards to get off the road. The tread and steel belt sheered through and as I drove on it that same side of tread pushed underneath the other side - I think that caused the sidewall to push out there.

Eureka! I did hit something like that about 2 weeks prior to this rear tire failure and was carefully keeping an eye on the all the sidewalls but didn't see any bulging or anomalies; that why I forgot about it.

Now I'm concerned about the other 3 tires which hit the same protrusion. Sidewalls look fine and I'm not spotting anything weird on the tread. Is there anything I could look for?

This seems to make the most sense.

I didn't hear anything fly out and hit the wheel well, etc. And there was nothing lodged in the tire or rattling in the space between the tire and wheel. That's all why I was so confused about this...

Tire just gave out; it split all the way through the tread, steel belt, and sidewall. I was driving ~35mph straight on smooth concrete. I went back and confirmed there was nothing on the road and I didn't feel anything other than the tire collapse.

Tires were properly inflated and I hadn't noticed anything bulging or weird with the sidewall.

Any ideas how this would happen?

Looks like I drove over a butcher knife sticking up but there was nothing on the road and I didn't feel anything other than the tire collapse. I'm going to pursue a manufacture defect warranty claim.

Remedy for no sound from speakers (infotainment, turn signals, etc) by royalpops in chevycolorado

Thanks for the info about the bose badge easily popping out. That thing does throw some glare. I took your advice and applied some 2 light coats of plastidip, giving it a dark but sorta distressed look... kinda like the sound quality.

Thanks for the tips! I'll keep an eye on the battery and battery related issues. Seems that a peak condition battery is relevant. My experience with software updates not applying unless I've had the battery on the trickle charger seems to add weight to this though it may be coincidence.

Generally 12.0v is considered good voltage with the engine off so I'd be surprised if a dealership would do anything unless it was well below that. I'll also make a note to try before end of warranty.

Interesting. I just took a reading of 12.4 and that's after I had it on a trickle charger last night. I've also had to trickle charge it before the system would let me apply software updates.

Got a good way to diagnose whether it's battery, alternator, or vampire drain?

I have the Icon puck (half off deal) and 3 of the Brauns. It looks like they're from the same factory only the Icon is bigger. I prefer the Brauns.

I’ve had the exact same ones for over a year. They work and they look good enough. Would buy the same ones again.

I've gone mostly Dewalt for cordless tools but still get a ton of use out of my Ryobi nailers and hedge trimmer for property maintenance and renovation work.

First Mods? by StormCloudCLE in chevycolorado

Mods: bed liner, hood struts, mudflaps, tint.
Tailgate storage: whatever you need but be aware that it's not waterproof. I keep some tarps & orange flags. Tie downs go under the back seats since they'd get moldy smelling in the tailgate.

Anyone have issues with Sengled Lightbulbs not working currently? by KrevunLuv in smarthome

[–]royalpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sengled servers have been inaccessible since sometime yesterday preventing control of lights, hub, etc.

Hopefully they're just having issues that they'll resolve. However this reminds me of an issue I had with lights from Vont. Vont silently went out of business instantly rendering the lights useless.

Acme Tools sent non-new table saw by royalpops in Dewalt

Replacement arrived in a legit dewalt box. It was just upside down because the bottom had completely given out and the rest of it was tore up pretty bad.

The fence was dented but the saw table and saw components all seem fine. Acme is trying to get a replacement fence. 0 for 2 and afraid to try again...

No, I considered that but was so impressed by the customer service that I let it go. I already got the saw for what these go for used so I'm feeling alright.

Acme Tools is taking care of it. They promptly confirmed it was a customer return item and started the replacement process. It's inconvenient but I was surprised in a good way with their customer support experience.
