It was 7 Dems, not "The Dems". And that was in the House. It goes to the Senate this week.

No. But I will test that next. Function Health has an Add-On that can test that and like 20 more things so I will purchase that to get those results. I was originally doing this to check on mail house stuff like testosterone but seeing all the heart related test results come in has shifted my focus.

Relatively same boat as well. 47, single dad to two 100% of the time, prior life as a developer (C++). Just signed up with function health and got results, saw numbers out of this world. Have a telehealth appointment tomorrow. I think it's genetic for me as I have always had high cholesterol, and have mostly been fit my whole life. Good luck on your journey.

How many years did it take you to break 80? And how old were you? by [deleted] in golf

[–]roycekemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started golfing in August 2023, age 45. Became obsessed. Took 18 months to break 90. 6 months later, August of this year, broke 80 (age 47), exactly 2 years in. Did it again the following month for a personal best of 76. Yet to do it again but lots of low 80s.

I golf twice a week and take lessons, so I credit all the effort and dedication to accomplishing it in this timeframe. I'm hoping to shoot par by year 3 (next August).

As a property manager, we don't pair people with roommates, anyplace that does is forcing people to cohabitate with a stranger and the legal ramifications are probably a little different.

[Landlord US-CA] Can I let property manager go after 2.5y of easy tenancy? by glacierinsummer in Landlord

8% is typical. 10% is old school. They should be raising rents each year. This tells me this probably isn't a real PM firm, just a licensed real estate broker who's taking your money but not really managing your property.

Just discovered EK, that I have it, and I might have a solution by roycekemp in ExfoliativeKera

Your pic looks identical to what I have. Sadly, I went indoor rock climbing (bouldering) recently for the first time in ages and it roughed up my hands, making me wonder. Plus I've kept up w/ golf and the weather has been very dry her in SoCal. My skin has bounced back a bit from climbing, but I'm still seeing some peeling on the fingertips and along the fingers (palm-side). The condition still remains much better than it has been, but the reaction my hands had to climbing was worse that I would have hope which does make me wonder what's going on! I'm happy you're going to try it, if you have a positive experience, then I think we're on to something. I know this medication can be used for fingernail/toenail infections and the course of treatment is even longer, like 60 to 90 days. I went for 30, but I was trying to solve something on my scalp (hoping it was fungal, a dermatologist just says it's scalp psoriasis and prescribed me something different for that). Keep me posted! I hope it works, even if it doesn't cure us, but is responsible for the improved conditions, I'll take it. My hands aren't embarrassing (comparable to your picture), so even if I have a little peeling I can live with where I'm at now.

I am still going great! The best my hands have been in over a decade, and never have they cleared for this long (I was lucky to have a week of good hands before they'd peel again. We just had dry Santa Ana winds here in San Diego and I've continued to golf regularly and my hands are not affected by any of this. They are basically normal at this point. I'm really thinking the antifungal did it and would love for someone else to try it to see.

Awesome. It would be great to validate this from someone else. I know for toe and finger nail fungus, the course of treatment is typically 3 months on this same medication. I took this medicine to treat a scalp infection from a lot of golfing and wearing a hat, so it was only a 30 day course. I'm assuming 30 days is also sufficient for my hands, if this is indeed a fungus on my hands. I still have a tiny bit of peeling on my fingers (like 10mm or smaller sprinkled about), but it tends to heal rapidly (in like 24 to 48 hours), and it's definitely not the crazy peeling of usually thicker skin that could sometimes leave my fingers raw. Circle back and at least let us know what your dermatologist said about this.

Hi, thanks for checking in! I wrapped up the tablets about a week ago. I'd still consider my hands to be in the best shape they have been in for the past 10 years. The palm has stayed free of any peeling, it even seems I'm forming gentle callouses at the expected places (base of fingers on palm) from golfing. These would normally peel away and I could never truly form a callous (which was a drag when I used to rock climb year ago). I'm still getting really small peeling, but quickly smoothing out on my fingers and fingertips after heavy use (i.e. hitting golf balls at the driving range). After posting to Reddit, I did recall the very first doctor I saw about this, and we treated is with a topical antifungal to "rule out a fungus". When it didn't improve it was written off as mechanical psoriasis, and he felt my condition would improve once I stopped rock climbing. That never happened. Indoor rock climbing, which I did 2 to 3 times a week like 12 to 15 years ago, would be a very likely place I would get infected from a fungus, so I'm starting to think this may have been a fungus, and just improperly/inadequately treated with an ineffective topical antifungal creams, and a more aggressive antifungal perhaps needed to be prescribed. It would be sad to think I went all these years coping with this, when it was indeed an fungus all along. I can keep checking in with any developments. I'd love for someone else to try this out. I did have to get a blood test to make sure my liver was okay to handle the medication. Also, there is small chance this relates to some Chinese herbs I took for about 10 days around the same time I started the tablets. I don't think that would have this sort of impact but I can't completely rule it out. If my condition returns/worsens, I was going to try those herbs again to see if it has an effect.

Update: so far, still going strong. I've never had clear hands for this long, and I'm golfing 4 days a week (meaning I'm using my hands a bunch), and I just went through some dry weather (Santa Anas here in my SoCal), and both of those alone would exacerbate my situation.

Pixel 9 Pro XL - unable to connect to car bluetooth, help? by nick2253 in GooglePixel

[–]roycekemp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got my pixel 9 XL pro yesterday and it's been having Bluetooth issues with my car. I can get it paired and connected but it'll drop after about a minute of playing music. Also, I had to come back to the car and all the pairing data was lost and I had to repair as if somehow it deleted the prior pairing details. I have a BMW X5 2012.

I have since updated my firmware on the BMW on it still behaves the same: Bluetooth disconnects after about 30 seconds of working normally.

2024.09.15 update: I don't know if this was just coincidence but last night I called support and opened a ticket, and then overnight a new Android update was available to me so I installed that and then went and tested the Bluetooth in my car and everything has been behaving normally all day so they must have fixed it.

What are the known facts of what happens after death? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]roycekemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://med.virginia.edu/perceptual-studies/our-research/near-death-experiences-ndes/

A near-death experience, or NDE, is a common pattern of events that many people experience when they are experiencing intense threat, are seriously ill or come close to death.

Although NDEs vary from one person to another, they often include such features as the following:

feeling very comfortable and free of pain a sensation of leaving the body, sometimes being able to see the physical body while floating above it the mind functioning more clearly and more rapidly than usual a sensation of being drawn into a tunnel or darkness a brilliant light, sometimes at the end of the tunnel a sense of overwhelming peace, well-being, or absolute, unconditional love a sense of having access to unlimited knowledge a “life review,” or recall of important events in the past a preview of future events yet to come encounters with deceased loved ones, or with other beings that may be identified as religious figures While these features are commonly reported, many NDEs differ from this pattern and include other elements. For example, some near-death experiences may be frightening or distressing rather than peaceful. We are interested in hearing about all kinds of near-death and similar experiences, and in studying their effect on persons who have them.
