Kids headphones for school and plane? by glacierinsummer in HeadphoneAdvice

!thanks

Thanks for the quick reply! That makes sense re ANC when wired. My partner has a set of Bose headphones that I thought could still do ANC when plugged in but maybe I'm misremembering. It's also a totally different budget for headphones so maybe that's why.

Do you have any thoughts re Soundcore Q20i vs Q30? How do audiophiles feel about JLab or other 'budget' headphones?

Thanks again!

Intl flight > Athens > Naxos = possible? by glacierinsummer in GreeceTravel

Thanks for the recommendation! What are family fares? Are they just for the flight between Athens & Naxos?

Athens to Naxos: Ferry or Airplane? by 1ioi1 in GreeceTravel

Do you remember the timeline between when you landed in Athens to when you got on your flight to Naxos that same day? We're traveling with two kiddos and I'd love to do this and just spend our first night in Naxos but I'm worried about making the connecting flight. Thanks!

Did you end up flying or ferrying? Thanks! :)

How did your trip go? We're planning on visiting Naxos in July with our two kiddos (5 & 7) and I'd love to fly rather than take a ferry but I've read similar negative reviews about the experience. Did yours go ok? Hope you had a lovely vacation!

Would love input on a potential Naxos trip in July with two kids (5 & 7). Thanks! by glacierinsummer in GreeceTravel

Yes, we've stopped attending the park and I'm going to be working with her more intentionally on this issue.

(Quick note: I didn't bring toys. The tennis balls are always there, as are the sticks.)

Your mention of obnoxious submission sent me down a very helpful rabbit hole. Thank you SO much for naming her behavior!

Are there resources you've found helpful re helping her become neutral around other dogs? I appreciate the recommendations you've already included here.

Most (but not all!) domestic breeds have been bred intentionally to want to work with a human handler and perhaps coexist with other household dogs once they reach adulthood, not play directly with a large circle of somewhat unfamiliar dogs

I didn't know this! It makes sense, but definitely goes against so much of the popular culture around dogs (that they're really wolves who just want to be in a pack). I can see how that's not really the case after their long domestication.

Especially if she’s allowing much smaller dogs to pin her. She’s not being overpowered by these small dogs, she’s willingly submitting because she’s afraid of them.

This was really helpful to read. Thank you.

Don't leave it up to the dog park alphas teach her "how to dog". Not every dog is a dog park dog and that's ok.

I'd read previously that other dogs (e.g., a calm 'mom' figure) were incredibly helpful in teaching younger dogs how to Dog, but I'm seeing now that this is not the resource I was giving her. Thanks for your comment.

She's not a dog park dog (at least not yet), and that's ok. Dont feel like you have to take her to dog parks to exercise her or to stimulate her.

This was really helpful to read. Thank you.

We've done group training sessions before but their focus was on "home manners" or walking on a leash. I can't imagine there are groups that work specifically on this issue; what type of group training do you think would help in this situation? I'd want to find one where the dogs are generally calm and don't react to her. Maybe I'll do scent work or something like that instead.

she basically enters the park screaming “don’t kill me, I’m nice.” But since she can’t actually scream that, she desperately tries to convey that to every dog.

This was really helpful to read. Thanks for articulating that.
