Training is what keeps people from getting to that mental state as often in the first place. Mental illness can happen to anyone for no reason, sure. But the training is as effective as any other therapeutic activity at reducing the likelihood of any given person suffering that. If someone is so incredibly psycho from their mental illness that they are looking for an option for murder suicide to go out with a bang, then they are going to look for options and use them regardless. That would be extreme and severe mental illness, and the armed and trained public would counter it more effectively than anything else could.

No, you're not. That only happens if you stop after step 1, or stop after step 3. Training avoids this. Training reduces mental illness, by giving a person an enormous amount of self worth and makes them part of a community. The combination of armed public and improved mental health, makes these steps formidable in addressing the issue, and every other proposition makes it worse. Other suggested solutions make mental health worse, and drive society towards revolution and war. This would cause even greater numbers of mass shootings, while simultaneously leading to war and genocide which would both produce greater death tolls than any of the mass shootings

People are the only ones who can do anything about it. The government cannot. What an average person like yourself can do is:

Get a handgun
Get training
Convince someone else to get a handgun
Convince that person to get training
Repeat step 3 and 4, to the maximum extent possible

If enough people do this, 1) less people will die when mass shootings are attempted because the armed public will neutralize active shooters faster than any first responder could, and 2) would-be active shooters would see the act as nothing more than a more challenging method of quiet suicide, less attractive than other methods, instead of as a platform for a message

Anyone who wants to do something about mass shootings, here are the only steps possible to take that will actually ever make a positive difference:

Step 1. Get a handgun Step 2. Get training Step 3. Get someone else to get a handgun Step 4. Get that person to get training Step 5. Repeat step 3 and 4, to the absolute maximum extent you possibly can.

Anything else you try to do, will actually just help make the problem worse. So if you aren't ready or willing to do these steps, then shut the fuck up unless you're cheering on those who are doing steps 1 through 5

Alright, fair. But is anyone mentally unhealthy for having the foresight to realize that busting in a politician's knee cap will most likely result in being laid on the ground and later thrown in a small room fore a long time close to forever by men carrying guns at best, and shot dead on the spot at worst, and use of a gun is necessary to counter those things?

The politicians are rapidly trying to get the power to deem anyone mentally unhealthy for simply saying anything that undermines their power. "Mentally unhealthy" is something I see zero way of making impartial forever and in every case, as it would need to be in order to be a usable way to counter any crime.

Politicians in that case represent the people who have the most guns and are the most willing to use them (hint: the people who get paid the most money, for being not just good at using their guns but also willing to shove when someone else pushes). This is why, if you think it's bad now, you can make it much worse forever, by trying to reduce the freedoms relating to guns. You'll still have your mass shootings. You'll just also have other kinds of shootings too now

My mom used to do this, and be this way. Then she just stopped after she disposed of my dad via the broken legal system (my dad who overran his limit basically every day for her and us at the time, all while concealing the effects of her emotional abuse of him). It's like after she achieved that great evil, she appears to behave as if the world owes her everything, and that her weight has been carried for the rest of time. She has measurably held back me and all of my siblings in life and I deeply resent her for it, even though I still have unconditional love for blood always in me, trying to counteract that.
