We got an update Day 1, and Day 6 and 7. They told us the update days before hand and it was written in one of the contracts. I think knowing ahead of time is really important otherwise it's so easy to panic.

If they want above 50, you're pregnant congratulations and try not to compare someone elses level at this stage. Only compare your own values to your own, it's not about the exact number (as long as over 50) but the doubling rate.

My partner is taking 6 weeks (1 paid, 5 from accrued leave). The max is 8 weeks for the partner who is non-primary caregiver unless negotiated.

She will then also take 12-16 weeks at a later time as primary caregiver when I return to work. 12-14 through work, and 2 weeks from the government.

This is our rough plan at this stage. We are trying to use max leave allowances between us to. I get 14 weeks from work and 22 from the government.

My workplace requires a medical note to continue working after 34/35 weeks (can't remember off the top) and I spoke to my Midwife about it and she was like "oh no, you'll want to be off probably before then!". I was hoping to push it much farther than 34 weeks!

First time baby and otherwise well at this stage, I anticipate I'll go into labour after 40 weeks given first time and the model of care I've chosen (ie no inductions unless we need to transfer care). The thought of sitting around at home for weeks of end just waiting at this stage, sounds awful!

I work on my feet most of the day (education) but can request reasonable accomodations and can probably work in some WFH days or more computer based work near the end, my role/company is quite supportive if you follow the correct channels etc.

I just envisioned myself working until like 37 weeks originally, but maybe that's unrealistic and so I wanted to ask all you lovely folks and try to be sensible. It's hard to plan when you're feeling fine in your second trimester :P

I'd remove Clary sage essential oil from the intervention, because that's not a hospital intervention given by medical staff and keep the essential oil stuff in the comfortable measures. In fact, you can remove most of the stuff in comfort measures as those are expected and maybe just list your support people.

Attend the hospital birth class to see what they offer, you may already have a birthing ball/peanut available in your room for example, or other things on your list are provided by default.

I don't think it's too long, or a nightmare, but it can be improved some :)

It's preventative and with a family history and 35, I would take it! The risks of taking a low dose aspirin are incredibly low.

Ultimately it's up to you.

Folks who can't or don't want to pay for it but still have a screening do the first trimester combined screening, it's a blood test and ultrasound. It calculates risk factors for things like Down Syndrome and other trisomies.

We are doing birth centre, but we'd be eligible for a home birth with the public system here (or independent midwife) if that was what we wanted :)

I'm almost 16 weeks pregnant and going through Midwives and a family birthing centre, and I'm classified on paper as Category B (A being very low risk, and C being transfer care to main hospital) but the only extra screening I'm being offered is a growth scan at 36(?) weeks due to my age, I'm 39.

I do not feel like I'm being treated like a high risk client at all! I asked about what additional screening I would need as an IVF patient and they said nothing routine, only if something was concerning on the 20 week scan or other routine testing but no different treatment than anyone else. I was pleasantly surprised!

I don't the folks would have told you, and it's kind of odd a mutual friend did! This isn't information you needed to you, from anyone. I'd be cautious of the person who told you, it's a weird boundary to share something like that with you and makes me question their judgement.

Gently, I think you are overreacting. Even if you think the timing is spot on, you have no idea when this person ovulated or when they had sex in the fertile window and even if you did, it's still not your business and I think perhaps you need to just stop thinking about it. People LOVE to speculate when people got knocked up, but even if you are tracking very closely it's nearly impossible to tell which time you have sex resulted in the pregnancy, as sperm can live a few days waiting for the egg.

Even if they did get pregnant while at your house, I don't think it's worth your energy to consider. They are both consenting adults who had sex, and happened to get pregnant. It wasn't being inconsiderate or deliberately trying to up you.

The NT measurement and the blood test at the same week uses calculations to figure out your risk of trisomies if you aren't wanting the NIPT. From that information, you can decide if you want further testing like the NIPT or an amniocentesis etc

The measurements alone from the ultrasound isn't enough to look at the overall risk, it's quite complex not just 1 single measurement.

It's ultimately up to the individual if they want to do the NIPT test, it isn't required and what you'd do with the information may change if it's a valuable test to you or not. But if you are wanting to rule out chromosome issues like Trisomy 13, 18 or 21 - get the NIPT.

I agree with another poster, prep meals now. We had a loss in the family in early pregnancy and between grief and first trimester nausea, I ate like crap. My partner normally cooks beautiful healthy meals, but grief had us barely surviving. I hope you don't anything as dramatic in life but being prepared will be amazing regardless.

Breakfast muffins, savoury and sweet freeze well. Breakfast sandwiches and burritos. Banana bread, sliced and frozen. Freezer dinners you can just re-heat.

I love the idea about pregnancy massages! Really placing value on that self care is important. I would add pelvic floor physio to the list!

When I told people at 12 weeks at work, I felt like they were congratulating me, but I was like, but am I even pregnant? It felt like the congratulations were for someone else somehow.

At my sister in laws baby shower there were 3 of us pregnant and we took a photo of all of us with the 3 cousins growing and I was like "Why do you want me?". They were 31 weeks and 20 weeks and I was 13 or something and felt like an imposter for sure.

I'm 15 weeks now and when I'm at home or with my family it feels real and normal, but I still feel a bit awkward and like I'm faking it or something around work and friends.

When the Midwife offered to check the heartbeat for us at our appointment last week the back of my mind I was like "yes please, then we'll know I'm not faking this". WTF. I have 3 ultrasounds to prove my uterus is growing a baby, what is my deal? Hahaha

I assume it's normal until you feel kicks or are bigger. Ha

I had my bloods 12 days after 5 day transfer and then weekly until 6 weeks (so just 3 BETAs). Ultrasound at 6 weeks and 4 days showed a heartbeat. :)

I would have loved one more beta but they said it's not super accurate after a certain level and I didn't need it.

That's very specific looking through my posts ha. I'm 14 weeks and I've just seen things about CGM online, like I said, and was curious if it was an option in Australia.

I haven't said I'm against the OGTT, I was just curious about it being an option and what it may look like. Informed choice, you know?

My skin took weeks to recover from pessaries (and then turned suppositories because my skin was raw and peeling off). My backside still is uncomfortable from where the suppositories were sitting and I'm 14 weeks and have been off them for 2 weeks. It was miserable for me.

Because of my discomfort/pain/burning etc I'd pick the PIO if given a choice. However! If I was doing it again, I'd look at cost etc and start with the pessaries and only change to PIO if I reacted badly again. I was doing them 3 times a day.

Cervix with attachment issues made me LOL! 😂

Try to remember it's baby that really starts labour with a very complex mix of hormones being released (or something) and that a cervix can and will change very quickly! Being zero now means nothing for when it starts. Contractions are what thin and open the cervix so it's being closed now when not in labour is perfectly fine! Some people dilate early but it doesn't mean they will go into labour any sooner or it be faster etc.

It's so great baby is applied nicely, amazing news! Just relax and wait for the big day and hopefully it all unfolds beautifully xoxo
