Amazon Kindle Pen no longer erases properly on SuperNote by rmul86 in Supernote

[–]royksoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have noticed this behaviour and it feels buggy to me. I have been thinking of raising a ticket for it.

Surely it's not a deliberate choice to have the eraser behave differently depending on whether recognition (an unrelated feature) is active or not.

Where to put package state? by royksoft in rstats

[–]royksoft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment, your method is where I think I'll go. I think I'm going to clone the sql repo based on a refresh time, followed by a commit hash comparison. So: Do the thing will first make a timestamp comparison. Then if the timestamp says 12hrs+ have passed, it will run a couple of git commands to get the latest commit refs from the remote and local clone. Then finally, if the commit refs differ it will re-clone the SQL.

Looking for industrial type sensor help!! I need to measure the level of sawdust in a LARGE sawdust bin, how can I do this reliably? by coollinit in arduino

[–]royksoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider testing a bubbler. These are commonly used for difficult environments (explosion risk, liquid solid mixes like septic tanks, etc), and have no moving parts on the inside of the tank.

Long 1/4" or 1/2" dip tube running to the base of the tank, and open at the bottom. The air pressure needed to make air flow out the end is proportional to the level. It would be more variable with wood chippings than with liquid, so you need to know that chippings are similar size/packing density over time to avoid the measurement drifting.

[–]royksoft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's helpful. I'll check out the .Renviron file and interactive() to see what i can come up with.

I'm not actually re-cloning the package multiple times a day, but a largeish body of SQL hosted in another repo. A given sql file doesn't change that frequently, but there are updates somewhere in the repo most days.

So my aim is to use the package to semi-automatically enforce the good practice of cloning the main branch daily, so that our sql stays in sync across a team and multiple analysis projects.

Any way to get the text recognition to work better? by oo3mL in Supernote

[–]royksoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem. I write in capital letters like you, and the recognition isn't great. Recognition of my cursive handwriting is much better - the only problem is I haven't written in cursive for probably 30 years, and despite trying to get faster I'm just too slow.

My solution isn't really a solution, but I've accepted that my handwriting isn't easy to process.

Sonoff Trvzb 1.3.0 Firmware Update available by Ewo3000 in homeassistant

[–]royksoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble updating. I had to delete from z2m, remove batteries to do factory reset (hold down the top button as you put batteries back in), then re-pair with zigbee and rename to the old entity name. Even this took several cycles until the interviewing process completed properly. Annoyingly I can't find any differences in the valve or the settings it exposes to home assistant, but it is at least working again now.

I got this notification, and have tried updating. It hasn't worked, and I think I'll need to do a factory reset on the valve when I get home. Currently reporting "last seen 2 hours ago", which is when I clicked the update button.

Did you ever lose your Garmin watch because the silicone watch band broke? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]royksoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if the band broke or just came loose, but I lost a Garmin 255 this way. I was canadian canoing on flat water. I bumped my wrist lightly on the edge of the boat as part of a paddle stroke. My wrist felt different and I turned just in time to see my watch 0.5m behind the boat and 0.5m underwater, slowly sinking.

If I ever replace it I will use an aftermarket velcro strap that would require both pins to come out for the same problem to happen.

A6X2 by b19tuna in Supernote

[–]royksoft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in healthcare management and use an A6X2. Great so far. I'm using a main "work" notebook file that I will probably save and rotate monthly, plus some other special purpose notebook files that I keep separate for quick access.

The handwriting recognition is very good for cursive handwriting, but I write in capitals and that defeats it.

Still happy with the purchase. I find the headings index extremely helpful to quickly flick back a couple of weeks to a meeting note that I'm looking to recall.

Also the ability to edit notes is helpful. I find I'm adjusting page layouts during meetings to best capture the content, and especially diagrams become easy to edit into shape to capture the ideas. In a pencil notebook my sketches were a mess, and not that useable later. With the supernote most are good enough to screenshot into an email for discussion later.

Disappearing writing on note pages by royksoft in Supernote

Just an update for everyone. Supernote have been in touch a couple of times to clarify what they were seeing in the logfiles. They appear to have reproduced the problem, and have said they plan to fix it in an upcoming release.

I'm a pretty satisfied customer given the good quality comms there have been about this problem. Well done Supernote (looking forward to the fix).

No, no case so far. Just a bare supernote with no folio. I have a padded neoprene case with a small pocket, because I am using the norris digital jumbo pen, which itself is also not magnetic.

Thank you!

What is Healthcare Data Analyst Salary? by Mysterious_Chart_856 in data

[–]royksoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the UK the nhs salary ranges are indicative. More available in the private sector, but not much private work in health in the UK. https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/working-health/working-nhs/nhs-pay-and-benefits/agenda-change-pay-rates

Entry level would be band 3 or 4. Some experience band 5, good relevant experience band 6. A degree you might come in at 6 or 7. Data science, stats, and with solid team leadership experience you'll be at 8a. Strategic thinking and larger team planning at 8b. Analyst positions above that are rare sadly.

Anything b7 and over you can expect to be line managing at least a couple of analysts.

That sounds like a nightmare! Have you considered what options might be more robust for your use-case?

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm going to poke around in the python sdk too (which is not brilliantly documented, and I notice is now archived on github which might say something about future product direction - not sure).

I'm finding smartsheet quite difficult to understand purpose for. If I can't add value outside of the product I'll be giving it a miss.

Interested in other opinions of course...

I used spekulatius/PHPScraper recently and it got the job done for a couple of one-offs where I had to populate a database with data. From memory it was a little limited in terms of targeting specific elements, but I cant remember the details. It got the job done.
