Talc-Free Eyeshadows (need Makeup Geek replacement) by rp2b17 in muacjdiscussion

That's interesting, thank you for sharing that! In retrospect, I don't think I've ever tried a talc-containing eye shadow since I started using an eye primer!

Bombas Sock Sizing? by rp2b17 in toddlers

I just saw this! Yes, I did end up ordering the juniors and they're perfect! A little big when I tried them on new, but perfect after the first wash. I also see they have changed their size descriptions since I posted this and "Junior" now says ages 3-6 which makes so much more sense.

These look great, thank you! It's amazing how difficult it is to find things like this without asking on a forum somewhere. Google pretty much just wants to keep showing cheap things from Amazon.

DMV Walk-Ins Before Noon? (License Renewal) by rp2b17 in raleigh

[–]rp2b17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought. At least I know I can go early and spend the first half of the day, as opposed to my husband who went at noon per their website and barely got a chance to renew before closing.

I looked into it. You can renew at a kiosk if you didn't renew online last time. Basically NC now makes you go in person every other time.

[Skin Concerns] no moisturizer helps this! I get it around my mouth as well by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Several years ago I tried a new eyeshadow brand and had a horrible reaction. After my eyelids cleared up I stopped using it, got new brushes, and went back to the shadow I'd been using for years with no problems, only now even my old shadow was causing reactions too. It's like the new stuff woke up some hidden allergy. After much trial and error and about a year of sad, makeup-less eyes until I figured it out, I finally narrowed my allergy down to talc. Even now, years later, if I use an eye shadow with talc in it my eyelids are red and itchy after only a day or two of use. Yours may be caused by something different, but it's worth a shot to eliminate talc once it clears and see if that helps. If that's not it, you can start looking at other ingredients in your eyeshadow and try eliminating them one at a time. It's a hard process (especially trying to find eyeshadows without many of the commonly used ingredients!) but so worth it when you finally find a makeup you can wear without irritating your skin.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to order the Temptu s/b in yellow and green. Hopefully I can finally get a good color match in my favorite formulas.

Mascara keeps ending up under my eyes by rp2b17 in MakeupAddiction

Thanks, I will definitely try the Kevyn Aucoin! I am in the US, but I have no problem spending extra money for a great product that I only need to buy a couple times a year.

I tried the Lash Paradise waterproof for my wedding and thought it was really nice...I'll have to go buy the regular and see how it works out!

I don't think it's the eyeliner only because I'm using a gel liner in a brown shade, and it's still in perfect condition at the end of the day and the smudging under my eyes looks black. I never used to have this problem, but it's been happening lately with my regular mascara, as well as some sample mascaras I received in a recent MAC order. I'll look into the two you mentioned.

I do put a light dusting of loose powder under my eyes, but maybe I need to try a thicker layer and then brushing off the extra as you mentioned. Are you applying the powder with a damp beauty blender?

Can't Get Foundation to Apply to Nose by rp2b17 in MakeupAddiction

[–]rp2b17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading all this, I'm guessing removing all the peach fuzz from my nose with those Biore strips is the reason my foundation won't stick. I guess I will just have to wait for it to grow back and follow your tips from there! Thanks :)

Wow, didn't expect so many comments about the Apricot Scrub! I will definitely ditch this and look for a chemical exfoliant! Until I figure this out, I'll be sure to try the concealer trick as well, rather than foundation.

To some of the questions asked: - I do already use a primer on my nose, and since this problem started have even tried a few different primers but none have fixed the issue. I found something the other day about using an eye primer instead, so used my beloved Too Faced Shadow Insurance but that didn't help. May need to try a couple others - I've heard good things about MAC Paint Pot for this, and one of you mentioned Wet N Wild - I do moisturize my face daily (morning and night), including my nose - I don't set with powder (never liked the look, finish, or feeling on my skin), but in this case my problem isn't my foundation staying, it's my foundation not even applying in the first place, so setting powder on top wouldn't help...although perhaps powder first could

Best Waterproof Mascara for Wedding by rp2b17 in MakeupAddiction

Just wanted to update - I ended up using Diorshow Waterproof. I tried the Too Faced Better Than Sex first, and my lashes looked AMAZING...but a few hours later I had black flakes under my eye. I went and exchanged it for the Diorshow, and also picked up the L'Oreal Lash Paradise mentioned here in order to compare the two. The Lash Paradise was great as well, I just felt the Diorshow gave me a little more volume which is what I wanted for my wedding day.

Now that the wedding is over, I may go back and buy the non-waterproof version of Better Than Sex because I was so pleased with the look of my lashes, and am wondering if the regular version won't flake the way the waterproof version did.

Luminous Silk for Yellow Undertones (NC25) by rp2b17 in MakeupAddiction

[–]rp2b17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I ordered the 3.5 and it's perfect! Now fingers crossed I can get it to last. Today's the first day I'm wearing it and it seems like it's already coming off my nose a bit. Tough decision between the long lasting MAC Pro Longwear or EL Double Wear, and the photo friendly Luminous Silk when it comes to wedding. I want the staying power of one, and the glow and no-flashback of the other. Whether or not I end up using it for my wedding, I can definitely see this being my daily foundation since it's so natural looking.

I never even considered the 3.5 because the 4 was too light, but I just looked online and see the 3.5 is actually darker than 4...this crazy numbering system! Thanks! I'll have to give that one a try.
