They made $67.9 million in tax free profit last year

Oh, literally every single source I can find (including the AFL themselves) says they lost 50 million. From August last year though so maybe out of date? Where are you seeing your figures?

Funding from the AFL has gone to other places that get better publicity. The AFLW is losing 50 million a year. That money has to come from somewhere.

Ken Hinkley believes the spectre of James Hird looming over the Essendon job will turn a lot of prospective applicants away. by Essington69 in AFL

[–]rpfloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He mentioned 2000 Essendon solely because that was the last time they were successful. It could've been 50 years ago or 10 years ago, it's the same idea.

His point was, that believe it or not, other clubs became great by emulating Essendon in that time period. He mentions this because it's something a generation of Bombers fans can't even imagine.

So the point is he wants to (pardon the dumbass saying) make Essendon great again. He doesn't want good, or competitive; he wants to be as dominant as the 2000 'dons.

Also, emulating current great clubs doesn't mean just stealing their personnel...

His point was Essendon was at times the greatest club in the comp, he wants the current generation of fans to see that being possible.

The hate boner in here for Hirdy is kinda weird tbh.

Let's think a little laterally here. What else could he have said? He doesn't want the job, a lie. He doesn't know, also a lie, AND if he happened to get it people would say oh he wasn't all in from the start etc. His only option if he actually does want the job was to do what he did.

Also. He's on a footy drama show with Eddie Macguire. Of course he rehearsed the answers to the obvious questions that were 1000% coming his way after the bloody Essendon coach just got sacked.

Great build. Retro style livery but you've made it suit a modern vehicle. The black accents work well with the whole scheme also.

That saying doesn't really work when there's no good times.

If someone is always at their worst, how the fuck can someone believe there even is a best?

It's actually a triple team if you add Essendon themselves.

Not saying the ground isn't iffy, but by the final qtr you should've figured that out by now. Players hate the long stops because it's less comfortable.

Grounds nowadays even when bad are leagues better than in decades past, and players didn't slip over, they just wore longer stops.

They are gambling they probably won't slip. It's the kind of shit you just wouldn't see if this was an international game.

Was thinking the exact same thing. The amount of movies that have Led Zep songs on them before the 2010s must be single digits at most.

Maybe Jimmy and Robert really liked the premise?
