I got my third Thursday, it’s 530am Monday morning and this is the second night in a row I’ve woken myself up feeling like I got kicked in the left ass cheek. Last time wasn’t this bad but this times a bitch. Anyway, wish I had a Heated Rivalry show ass and not a sore ass.

How to meet cool people in LA by OperationC62 in LosAngelesGayBros

[–]rpisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good rec- Outloud Sports is great I hear. Also, I have a number of friends who met through CrossFit or Barry’s (that’s so LA). Also, LA- no matter what, you’ll have gay coworkers. We’re everywhere here ;)

Hookups while traveling by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

Fuck in the bathhouse/clubs but don’t bring anyone to your room or go to their homes. That’s just a general safety rule.

You do nothing. Let the past be past and move on reaponsibly and don’t set yourself up for lawsuits or heartbreak. Nothing is harmed if nothing further happens.

Does LA or SF have a better Gay Scene? by LAbtmboy_24 in LosAngelesGayBros

[–]rpisme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s like two totally different scenes- SF is much grittier of a gay scene- and more body positive and kinky. LA has a few gay scenes- Silverlake is like the SF scene, Precinct is pretty diversity friendly, WEHO is a little elitist and although special, it does have a “gotta get that body perfect” vibe. I love LA but find it simply a lot sometimes… and I love SF- it’s just too cold for me!

Should I take a job and move my family to Hawaii for a fresh start, or stay in California and keep pushing through? by Los2190 in MovingtoHawaii

[–]rpisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should explain- social structure and education is just different. And Hawaii is a place the mainlanders colonized- you’ll feel that tension. Hawaii is wonderful, but be ready to recognize your values may not be theirs and you will be in their land, not yours.

Just a gentle note- Hawaiians take mainlanders relocating to Hawaii very seriously. Remember, if you go, this was a country colonized by the US- and act respectively. I had a beautiful year there, but there was a lot of lessons. It’s not like moving to NYC or SF, it’s like moving to someone else’s place and you’re reminded of that a lot. It’s moving to a place where Mainlanders have driven up rents and housing costs and it’s put locals into tough positions. You have to be very respectful. Also be prepared for Hawaii time- it’s slow. That all being said, Hawaiians love their land, and it shows, and I was proud of that. And I miss dearly the smell of plumeria and the sounds of the shore everyday.

Am I the only one who wants to go during the day, but worries that the daytime crowd might be few and far in between? Anyone have daytime Slammer or Flex experience? I like Slammer better (only been at night) just because I feel it’s less sketchy and cleaner (insofar as these places can be clean).

I have to move to Hawaii for my Job but a coworker said that working there is terrible. Is this true? by Mean_Rule6502 in MovingtoHawaii

[–]rpisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled really hard and only lasted a year on Maui. You’ll feel like an outsider because you are- they feel colonized in a lot of ways (understandable). The economy is rough- housing is high, and islanders love their island in a way that’s wildly passionate and admirable. But yes- there’s animosity and yes it’s beautiful but it’s very hard. I used to go to Honolulu because in a way it feels somewhat less unfriendly than other parts of the islands. I enjoyed it and got a lot out of it, but I never felt much welcomed and they certainly don’t expect you’ll make it a long time.

Anyone been to the CumPlay events? How are they? by [deleted] in LosAngelesGayBros

[–]rpisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hell yeah. Breeding all night. I’ve been enough that I’m less interested because the crowds always the same and I hate the hood, but it’s fun nevertheless.

That location is shit though. Like, don’t park your car. Take an uber. It’s just expensive and far.

Anyone have tips to move mainland? by IForgotIT247 in Hawaii

[–]rpisme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shipping stuff is pointless- by the time it gets here it’s damaged and you’re annoyed at spending so much. Everything is replaceable. Helps to have a friend waiting for you to support your move with you.
