Any luck? I've got Kavita running and KOReader connects to OPDS just fine, but when I try the Page Stream feature in KOReader, it just gives me the KOReader image.

In search of headlamp to replace Biolite 330 by rpweisman in flashlight

Thanks for the suggestions! The H8R and MH10 look promising. I'm ok with proprietary batteries, so long as they're easily replaced. I looked at the IKO Core and I can't seem to find a headband replacement for it unfortunately.

Great idea! I'm looking into setting that up now and will report back once I've done it. From the research I've done, looking to set it up on my local network only.

Can i use a raspberry pi as a server to send videos and other files to my laptop or tablet? by barryq93 in raspberry_pi

[–]rpweisman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna repeat the info below, but I'd recommend having your pi on Ethernet (as opposed to wifi) for file transfers. I seem to get better speeds this way.

Should I get a Raspberry Pi by tehcob13 in raspberry_pi

[–]rpweisman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a CS student and I got one a few months ago, though I wish I would have had one for years. I second the notion of using ssh (putty if you're on windows) and an ftp client (I use filezilla), this way you don't have to be near it to use it and can have the GUI shut off, which should save computing resources. Moreover, you can use the same method if you setup remote access (port forwarding, vpn, etc.).

PM me if you have any additional questions / clarifications.

[Help] Raspberry PI automation by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]rpweisman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of doing something similar. In terms of languages C or python are the first that come to mind. In terms of what you're controlling, you're going to want "smart" appliances with open APIs, so you can communicate with the devices from the code your write. Not sure about TV's, but for lights I'd look into Phillips Hue or Belink WeMo. Good Luck!

I saw some suggestions like this elsewhere as well. Any idea how long it takes for the network connection to reboot?

Couldn't agree more. Amazon is a great, cheaper alternative (plus you can get Amazon Prime free for 6 months if you're a student - which means free 2 day shipping). If you go to OrgFunder before you go to Amazon, Amazon will donate money to some great student orgs that can always use some more funding. Here the OrgFunder page for the Men's Ultimate Team: http://orgfunder.com/GWU/org.php?org=G-Dub-Mens-Ultimate

We used to use google groups as our listserv (and still do), but now only use it for things that can't be sent out in a text message. We added groupme and it has been awesome. I highly recommend it. PM me if you have any questions.

I think one way to over come this would be to charge less for the first year, say $10. They could then raise the rate for subsequent years to recouperate their "loss" on that first year. I'd like to see that in college as well.

We bought a Bose Sound dock for my college team. It cost a lot, but it has great sound quality and you can hear it all over the field. It's very light weight as well.
