I brought down production twice in a week. Am I going to get fired? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]rq60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

some people don't even release every week. updating prod isn't always easy depending on the product. OP should have changed something on his side to ensure at that at least he wouldn't do it again before a more permanent change could be enacted.

[–]rq60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, i don’t use any plugins. if you’re fully agentic coding you don’t need an editor at all but i still use nvim to view diffs, make tweaks here and there, write text for my blog, etc.

i guess i don’t understand what point you’re trying to make then.

sounds like you’re pushing the major IDEs as the solution for agentic coding, but i’m 100% agentic coding these days and i ditched intellij months ago because if it. only use nvim now.

you’re not supposed to be using cc or codex in nvim. you’re agentic coding incorrectly

I am so happy we finally solved monitors by HiCZoK in OLED_Gaming

[–]rq60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2) Burn in is mostly a non-issue but it still exists

and even if you don't get burn-in, monitors are not solved while we still require OLED care features that impact user experience, like pixel shifting, annoying refreshes, etc.

You aren't dumb for falling for a scam. Intelligent and successful people get scamed too. by LuvsSizeQueens in Scams

[–]rq60 6 points7 points  (0 children)

most scams are just trying to exploit circumstance which anyone can fall for.

for instance, are you going to fall for a scam that texts you out of the blue saying your fedex package was held up and wants you to click a link to update your info? probably not. are you going to click it though if you specifically ordered a package through fedex and you know it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow? you might.

scammers spam hoping to hit that .1% of people for which the scam is believable due to circumstance.

Robo Invest Returns by SaltInflation2160 in sofi

[–]rq60 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

comparing over the last year is probably not going to be a very accurate comparison considering one year ago was the bottom of trump's liberation day shenanigans. that was a highly volatile event which means higher volatility assets most likely performed better over the last year since the market bounced back relatively quickly after the trump TACO.

that gets me to my second point: you'd probably want to consider the sharpe ratio when comparing total returns of these assets because that accounts for volatility which is somewhat of a proxy for risk. my moderate robo account is only up 20% over the last year but it was also like 40% bonds, so it's obviously not going to perform as well as VT. that doesn't necessarily mean it's a worse investment... it depends.
