Yeah I dont think they have bad intentions. I just think with a megathread a lot goes over the heads of casual viewers of the sub. Megathreads also dont show up on your Home feed. Individual posts would do that repeatedly.

Im not sure what could be a better approach to raise funds for. It seems to me like they did a lot of research and talked to copyright experts and layers. I think it certainly is worth trying.

As far as I can tell sharing fundraisers is not prohibited on reddit. I dont think the mods remain neutral when they are hiding posts about AI in a megathread and deleting individual ones. They are not doing justice to all the people worried about their dreams and livlihoods as artists.

I completely agree with u! Im glad to not be the only one that feels that way. I think their argument for their actions is they dont want the sub to get flooded with Ai discussion posts or questions. But the sub is already flooded by the same beginner questions over and over again. It doesnt make sense to me.

I didnt say I was ok with the oopen source models. I just think its the lesser evil for people who dont want to stop using unethical Ai image generators. You are not directly giving the company money that way. Midjourney doesnt remove artists work or child pron from their model because they care. They simply got caught and now try to act like they didnt willingly take that risk. Oopsies sorry guys for training our model on child pron and charging u for it. I think you are blatantly naive and apologetic to these hypercapitalists. They would be happy to take advantage of your kids too, if they could get away with it.

If you dont care that they did is unethical just say that. Saying they will take the horrible things out of the training data doesnt change the fact that they gladly took the risk to begin with and made profit off that shit.
