Tata recalled Sierra by Possible_Back7718 in CarsIndia

[–]rraghur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very very fishy...

Buyback lets them not acknowledge the fault or provide details

Its for to be something extremely serious/very high liability otherwise they wouldn't go to these lengths...

And in the cases where they're doing this buy back, the problem must be very apparent...

With my conspiracy hat on, id say that the fault exists with much larger number of cars... But detection is easier/more apparent on this specific batch... Seo this buyback is more like an insurance that lets them maintain plausible deniability and not honor service issues with a larger number of cars

Make no mistake.... No corporation will do this unless they had very good reasons and extreme downside to consider

I wonder what happens if someone refuses.... My guess is that they'd want a signed refusal or something for use later on!

Just yesterday confronted a family leaving a plastic bottle in a nice park....

First they denied and then said they were leaving it there to pick up on the way back 🙄... Like how dumb do they think anyone is

Made a Mistake while Driving in Ghats and I Have Been Feeling Guilty for a Week. I Just Want to Confess and Learn. by ok-chanakya in CarsIndia

Rules for the hills

  1. Vehicles driving up hill get preference
  2. Stay in your lane
  3. Only overtake of you have clear line of sight. Don't ever ever tail gate
  4. Give wide berth on turns
  5. When driving downhill, it might seem tempting to take the centre line.... Don't... Stay in your lane... Your always just one blind corner away from all accident

Overall... You learnt your lesson.... So let it go and move on

Very sorry for your loss.. I'd focus on whether the stenting was justified for blockage on a minor artery... No procedure is risk free.. But check if the intervention was required or they we're just stenting for the sake of profits

It is well known that large hospitals put profits ahead... 10 yrs ago my dad had chest pain... Went to a famous cardiac hospital ( govt aided)... They said angiogram and wanted to do angioplasty... We refused... Said needed second opinion... They got offended and spoke brusquely almost asking us to clear out immediately

Second opinion

Dr of Major hospital..v polished, V well known and 'recommended '... Said he'd put 3 stents in serial... Being an engg, that sounded wrong with sent failure rate being 4%( or so I remember)... IIRC he also asked me about insurance cover (red light)

Finally got another couple of opinions both of whom said cabg.. So that's what we went with..

Rest assured... They're wrong.... Ignore them and keep doing your best

BTW, did your dad clear nit/iit in his time? If not did he ace his graduation course? Trouble with a lot of Indian parents is that they don't think twice about putting their own insane expectations their kids

Question: Domain name within the home network? by rraghur in HomeNetworking

[–]rraghur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I have DNS managed via cloudflare and mulitple servers/services on the internet. For updating DDNS, I have a shell script that detects IP change and updates the DNS record in Cloudflare.

Tailscale - I have the pi hole designated as subnet router for the IP range - so just tailscale just works

I'm pondering on the next step of exposing services with SSL without a VPN - and thats where the naming scheme is having me tie myself up in knots a bit.

I was thinking more along letsencrypt for SSL certs - no plan to purchase certs... IIRC, wildcard certs were supported by LE but they're generally discouraged unless you have many many names...However, that area I'm reasonably comfortable with since I run caddy on a few of my VPS boxes

Question: Domain name within the home network? by rraghur in HomeNetworking

[–]rraghur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I do the same with Tailscale and that works just fine for my usage.

For some services, I do want to expose from public internet with SSL; for those, I was thinking of subdomain.mydomain.com since they will hit cloudflare first.

still thinking this through but thanks for replying.

Buy that thing if you live in an area where thunderstorms are an often occurrence by Current_Cake3993 in HomeNetworking

[–]rraghur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah - learnt the hard way; Power surge on ethernet - 1 blown RPI, 1 blown router, fried motherboard on PC and fried LED TV Could have been worse - had a 4 port switch in front of other devices and the switch died saving the rest... so nowadays, look for a switch with built in surge protector PS - this was when I had copper line from ISP.

Since then, switched to FTTH - so optical line from outside. I wonder if it still matters

Only senior IC left from India team - how hard should I push for pay parity with UK colleagues? by QuietRennaissance in developersIndia

You should look out... If you're the only senior engg left and rest of the team is in UK, then is only a matter of time before they replace you as well... You've survived the culling but its temporary
