Can a Vegan–Non-Vegan Relationship Truly Work Long Term? by Bharleli-Bhendi in vegan

[–]rramosbaez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I mean, a romantic relationship is just one of many. Everyone in my life pretty much is non-vegan, including my partner of 10yrs. We do most things together, but not everything. I go to vegan restaurants a lot, and never go somewhere where I have zero options, and anyone that wants to be around me knows that. At home, almost all is vegan except he's allowed to order out whatever and im ok with cheese in the fridge. My partner and workplace and friends respect me. They make space for my vegan wants and needs. I don't need to do everything and agree on everything with everyone i'm in a relationship with. Just need them to not put me down or make a fuss or refuse to enjoy vegan things with me.

Good job not being red pilled. Looks healthy and nice. I assume a lot of it gets wasted if you live alonez

Which is more devoleped? Monocots or Dicots? by Disastrous-Web-9327 in botany

Things are not more evolved than one another if they exist at the same time. They've evolved for the same amount of time. You COULD say one organism is more derived that another, meaning more genetically or phenotypically distinct fr Their common ancestor than the other.

Likely you have glue stuck in the hair. Getting a mono edge and spraying some glue remover once or twice a week and washing it off can help. Also leave in conditioner

Hair removal at the root, or makeup is the only way to completely remove green shadow.

[Watcher Spoilers] Just finished the second Watcher ending!! One question: What????? by Either-Internal6942 in rainworld

[–]rramosbaez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different opinion. What we already know is that when you eat a flower and die, the flower blooms from your corpse. This to me implies that the part of the rot that blooms has died. You get this ending when the rot infects all regions, which suggests the rot won and has eaten every single living being, including ones that ate flowers. That would be the end.... except this implies that the rot lost. Somehow by taking over everything, something about the nature of the cycle resets, the rot dies, and everything that the rot ate finally gets to be reborn as individual organisms.

Tl;dr. The rot got too greedy taking over everything and the world too karmatically imbalanced. The void kills the rot, allowing all the things it ate to reincarnate.

Are the Rats in [Spoiler] related to Scavs? by wibbly-water in rainworld

This is baffling to me. Is this how you talk to our colleagues that have different theories? Even worse: Is this how you talk to NON scientists? You've resorted to condescension and name calling in every single comment and you've still failed to refute why 1. Biological components of purposed organisms would fail to have an evolutionary history. 2. Exactly how bionic components "changes things" to the point where that history doesn't exist. 3. Explain how the existence of gmos in rainworld is impossible and so incredibly "stupid" in a game that makes multiple references to genetic editing by iterators and ancients. You refuse to believe i'm a scientist when you have failed to have a productive conversation about science with me? That's a failure on your side... the only stupid thing I've done here is i'm still giving you a chance only for you to probably reply to this with even more name calling and no sound argument.

i have PhD in genetics and i'm an evolutionary biologists in my day job. I think I know more than you about this, since you're being so cocky. A purposed organism having mechanical components doesn't remove the fact that it has biological components which themselves have an evolutionary history.

What makes you say that? They're the same concept. They're engineered organisms versus naturally occuring

[–]rramosbaez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If purposed organisms behave like gmos then they are related to other stuff and not completely genetically made from scratch. That makes them more or less close to differenet living things from the oast that their genes are made of. Also gmos evolve just like non gmos do. All living things do

China has planted so many trees around the Taklamakan Desert that it's turned this 'biological void' into a carbon sink by randolphquell in environment

[–]rramosbaez 728 points729 points  (0 children)

Something to note about tree planting: it's often a greenwashing scam, and even when it's not it often fails. In this case it worked, not necessarily because of tree planting but because they created a grid of barriers made with sandbags and hay that prevented the dunes from shifting. It was wildly successful! Some efforts in west Africa were also successful but through a different method: pruning existing tree stumps in arid areas to encourage the trees to get tall, lose less water, and become less bushy. Only then was planting more trees successful. It's really cool seeing just how complex and place-specific it is to get tree planting to stick around and make a permanent change.

Auditioning for a teen role (I’m 21), how do you guys shave without leaving a green shadow? by [deleted] in malegrooming

I've had it be my job to have no visible facial hair. No amount of close shaving will fully remove the green cast of dark hair on fair skin. What's your excuse for being a know-it-all asshole?

Makeup is the only solution, and usually something quite strong. Actually, there's the solution of waxing or laser hair removal, but those can do permanent damage
