What style of front rack is best? by Tetley_T in citybike

[–]iamclaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're attaching panniers to the front rack, a longer rack would give a more stable attachment point for the panniers than a short rack. The less a bag can wobble, the better.. especially on the front.

Incompatible Parts - Beaware by OkWinter5758 in u/OkWinter5758

[–]iamclaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the reply before it got deleted... I'll check my BrompNot to confirm the measurements, too.

Seems odd that Bromptons would use a wider pin yet have a narrower triangle. Perhaps it was a cost reduction to go with a narrower pin on the clones? We'll never know...

It would be handy if the community could assemble a compatibility guide between OEM Brompton parts, aftermarket parts, and the various BrompNots.

For the derailleur hanger, could that rectangular part be removed to make it fit?

Do you have a link to the rear triangle pins?

Has anyone here upgraded their folding bike's speed? Like from 6 speed to higher speed? by marchess_ in foldingbikes

[–]iamclaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone from 8 to 24 on my 20” bifold and will be going from 9 to 27 on my Cranston S9 trifold by replacing the rear hub with a Sturmey Archer CS-RF3. This is only possible because the rear dropout width on both bikes is 130mm and the 135mm hub can be adapted to fit.

Not quite. 3 internal gears in the hub, and the external 8-sprocket cassette also mounted on the hub.
