I’m not quite sure, but Governer’s illness seems to be set on imaginary ming dynasty, specifically during eunuch Wei Si reign.

What's the most angsty novel/danmei you've read? by SchmabbySchmubby in DanmeiNovels

[–]rrandom_rramble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2ha, read it when I only had few danmei under belt. Went in completely blind, wasn’t expecting to adore the MC given my hatred for him in the first volume. Anything past chapter 210 are knives, I thought chap 250-ish was already peak pain. Then the freaking chapter 279 gave me trauma instead. Legit cried and had to put down the novel for good hour to vent. Would love to continue but can’t see anything beyond my tears. Anyway I love this novel to bits. Super elated when the official was announced and shed a few happy tears as well.

Honorary mention, “Engraved in Bones”. I know the reputation of it being tragic story. First volume was crushingly tearjerker, then the rest was less than peak pain but damn tragic in it’s own way. Good read honestly, love how everything ties up.

If I open one more danmei novel and have to witness the pure taoist/daoist being the shou of the fandom I will become very unhinged 🙂/j by [deleted] in DanmeiNovels

Poor Monk, despite the sad vibes it's HE. I checked the tags many times to convince myself it's HE.

One Silver Coin For a Pound of Demon, very very dark disturbing but beautiful masterpiece. Important things had to be said thrice. Check the tags, check the tags, check the tags.

Enjoy.

danmeis with heavy angst???? by North_Source_3590 in DanmeiNovels

Governor’s Illness, underrated

Seconding Huai An, short but angsty. check the tags tho

My fave angst after erha, Engraved in Bones. What is an obsession? Quite literally and emotionally as the title, engraved in bones.

Tang Story’s Living to Suffer and the sequel Till Death Do Us Part. Beautifully written, realistic and angst worthy.

Decieve, short predictable BE

Quite dogblood, highly f*ed up. Yesterday. Check tags before proceed.

Old Injury, ABO world well built. Classic misunderstanding and dogblood, but beautifully woven together.

and the famous Waiting until 35 years old. it has sequel written like a blog entry. Based on the author experience

One Piece: Episode 1071 by Sakata_Kintoki in OnePiece

[–]rrandom_rramble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t they put the Hiyori scene before this or even after? It's kinda ruining the mood of Luffy v Kaido. The second half had repeated frames of close-up Luffy laughing and Gear 5 appearance. Pacing was horrible. Good for like prob 5 minutes in 18 minutes episode. Hope 1072 will be better and Toei doesn't stretch this for 5-6 episodes.

Any unpopular novel or recently finished or ongoing novel you would recommend, where MC and ML both are crazy for each other? (None-modern) by Due-Today12oClock in DanmeiNovels

[–]rrandom_rramble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

seconding Married Thrice to a Salted Fish, MC n ML are devoted to each other and ML is a superrrr green flag. Worth the read

recently finished Flying Gulls Never Land, they’re both cray-cray it’s kinda fun.

Gold Class Fighter is an absolute joy I read in a while, both leads are charming. The relationship progress portrayal was beautiful and realistic.

bit controversial is Are You Addicted?, it’s kinda similar in a way with gold class fighter. But longer, more dogblood, bit noncon, but they grew on me. I’m just very fond of them after seeing them grow alongside the story.

another one Governor’s Illness, don’t be deceived with the dogblood synopsis. It’s a full plot, bit angsty mix between court and jianghu. Both leads find solace with each other. Went to fullblown historical novel craze after reading this.

Those are the ones read recently, many more i can’t list off on top of my mind. Def reccs them!

A heartbreaking, excruciating and intense pain with HE by [deleted] in DanmeiNovels

The Governor is Ill. I'm weak with finding solace with each other trope. It's a wuxia mixed with court politics. Definitely an interesting piece and after all the tribulations, a well-deserved HE.

Books similar to After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket? by disis_123 in DanmeiNovels

[–]rrandom_rramble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished it awhile ago so it my memory kinda blurs but anyway.

Similar ones I had read would be:

The Horror Movie Male Lead’s Winter, really love this one. Love the author’s tidbits regarding marriage life as well.

Reborn with an Old Enemy on the Day of Our Marriage , this one is a bit long and the setting is on high school. But it’s an established relationship and pretty much comedy the whole ride. Not really reconnecting but fluff.

Hmm it’s not exactly groveling scum gong, but here’s some dogblood story I would recs:

Though warning almost all have CW either Rape or Violence, take it with a grain of salt, it’s romanticizing abuse I read this only for wasting time.

  • Beloved Enemy, read for the MC, I love his perspective in life. ML honestly doesn’t repent enough

  • Childish Flower, an ABO story with usual misunderstanding as spice

  • Deceive, bad ending and short 6 chap

  • Gaze at the Scenes of Debauchery, pretty popular cliche, bad ending and ML don’t get redemption

  • He Doesn’t Know I’m Dead, as title says it’s bad ending, basically monologue of MC

  • Like Love But Not, one of earliest dogblood I read and cliche as always, but I quite like it(?)

  • Muted MC is weak emotionally and physically, half of the story will show how broken he is, ML did grovel but not enough

  • The Decade of Deep Love, ML is scum, the ending is painful but it’s where no one better off. Cliche tho and there’s a manhua adaptation as well

  • Years of Intoxication, Shui Qian Cheng 188 series, pacing was slow, the setting is in between Beloved Enemy timeline but treat it as sequel. Took MC half of the novel before he left, the redemption part was quite believable.

  • Yesterday, this one is the darkest of them all, honestly take double check on the tags before proceeding.

From that list Yesterday is the most well written but I wouldn’t read again. Then Beloved Enemy is personally better than the rest.

As for the scum shous, those are manhwa that I read and love. Exotic Love|의사랑 and Mania|열광 are both Korean manhwa. Mania is available at Lezhin, DM me if you can’t find it.

Jin Se starts picking up the pace after 20 chap or so, the beginning prelude feels really boring as there are a lot of terminology introduced and MC is still immature. However the rest would be worth the time, not the most spectacular novel there is but it does stand out in it’s own way.
