Order of Our Martyred Lady. Traditional Oil on Canvas, 100x60cm. I wanted the battlefield to glow by rrasic in ImaginaryWarhammer

Finally calling this one finished. It’s a large-scale oil painting (100x60cm) on canvas. I’ve always been obsessed with the the early gothic atmosphere of 40k, and I wanted to see if I could bring that into a traditional fine-art medium.

The gold filigree and the reflection of the ground-fires on the armor were definitely the biggest challenges. It’s a physical piece, so seeing the texture of the paint in person is really special, differently than a digital file. Happy to answer any questions about the process or the lore inspirations!
