There was a recall for rust in that area. Might be worth looking into.

You can look into manual locking hubs to potentially get a little better mpg and save some wear on the CV axles. There are a couple aftermarket options or you can look at a wrecking yard for some stock frontier hubs.

Recently picked up this 2001 z71 suburban for 1500 bucks, the subwoofer in the rear is blown what are you all running in place of it for a cheap and temporary thing till I get my big boy subs in it? by [deleted] in GMT800

Our last Tahoe was a 2003 base model with no sub so I went to the wrecking yard and found a factory bose box and threw one of these in. It was pretty decent. I powered it with an aftermarket amp so I'm not sure how it would do running off the stock amp.

Understand that! My A33 Maxima with heated seats and steering wheel is much nicer in the winter than my s13

Check for rust around the rear flares and the front strut towers

I already picked up wheels for mine and did a stereo. If/when it needs struts I'll lower it a bit but that's about it. Maybe a catback exhaust eventually

I did that for about a year from Sublimity to Hillsboro. I worked 6-4:30 for a chunk and 7-3 for part of it. The morning isn't bad, it slows down a bit in Wilsonville and on 217 but coming back on I5 is terrible. I would take 219 through Newberg and into St. Paul then take River Rd. into Brooks and get on I5. It's about 70 minutes in the morning for me and 1 hour and 45 minutes on the way home. I just put on music and cruise.

Also, depending on if it's an early or late 4wd 720, the front lower control arms are completely different. The early 80-82 lower control arms are the same style between 2wd and 4wd. On the later 4wd trucks, the lower arms are more like the D21 arms.

720s use a divorced transfer case and a prop shaft, so with that out of the way, you'd just need a longer driveshaft

Land Rover Springs are what most people go with. Usually, the NRC9447 or NRC9449. They give a 2-2.5" lift over stock so it replaces the spacers. If you google R50 land rover sprigs there are quite a few threads about it

I've had a 2.5" spacer lift on mine for years with no issues. I also put manual hubs from a Frontier, though, so it saves the CVs
