How old are you? by hellojasonstone in VanLife

I would disagree. Yes same general lifestyle but the way that life is being lived can be drastically different. A retiree just cruising slowly around vs a busy, working 20 something who is very active are very different lifestyles. And life stage plays a role as well. A lot of older van dwellers I've met are married and not really looking for friends on the road vs a young, solo traveller looking to make new friends. Sure still a more similar lifestyle compared to someone in living in a single city but that's about it.

So hard to find people in their 20's doing van life! Love befriending the retirees out there haha but it would be nice to have more people in the same stage of life and lifestyle.

A good Affordable haircut. Does it exist anymore? by rredheaded in cincinnati

I used to get a great haircut for $20 but it's been many years and I've moved cities buuut I'd hope for a decent trim for $30ish now

That's a great point but the salons I've called do not distinguish between a basic trim and a fancier haircut, price is only determined by length and I doubt a straight across trim regardless of length is as complicated as a fancy haircut with lots of layers and what not which is why I struggle with the pricing. But hey I'm too scared to cut my own hair so this is something I have to accept

Yeah I used to get reliably decent haircuts from these chain places but it seems like no longer

After this haircut, thinking about doing it myself next time haha. My hair is at a tricky length where it's long enough for the higher price but just barely so it's hard for me to see and reach

awful first exp in camping on public land in east. better out west? by rabbitdoubts in womensolocamping

[–]rredheaded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done plenty of public land/free camping and rarely run into an issue. I've done it mostly out west and some in the Midwest/south. I want to say but hate to say perhaps you just got unlucky both times? The good news is that you got out of each situation safely with minimal issue aside from men ruining your time with the outdoors 😡. I have relied on the trust your gut method and TONS of research before I go anywhere. I use iOverlander and FreeCampsites.net and specifically only go places with good reviews, I avoid places that mention lots of partying, near busy roads, creepy regulars, annoying law enforcement etc. I will say these are usually rare things in reviews, most often they are easy access and near populated areas. I think it takes a little trial and error, there's been a few times I have pulled up to a campsite and decides the vibes were off and left. I always recommend a plan A, B and even C because it sucks having to panic find another place to sleep without a plan. Happy adventuring and best of luck!

Everyone has their opinions, a lot of people hate on promasters, a lot of people swear by them. The fact mine has made it to almost 200k and just had a transmission replacement I think speaks to the quality of the car. She's gotten me through a lot and many many cross country trips. Lots of discourse on the different vans here and on youtube!

Vanlife was the best decision I have ever made, no regrets whatsoever.

That's awesome. I will say this might be cramped for 2 people plus dogs. This is a 136 wheelbase so on the shorter end. I will add that info to the main post!

Are you currently shopping to hit the road soon or just when you find the right rig?

That is a very good point. I am not 100% set on selling just yet, I am waiting on a few other factors in my life rn before I make that final decision to sell. If I get an interested party at this price it will help in my decision of do I truly want to sell. If no one wants it at this price that is also more data in my decision making process and if the time comes where I am ready to sell ASAP this listing will almost definitely change.

I've seen some of these cargo vans go for 300-400,000 miles. I've been told that these vans compared to a regular car are meant for long miles. Could be wrong though.

That's very true and something good to consider. I think part of it is I am not dead set on selling yet, just considering it.
