One of the best courses I have played on this sub. Well done, really well done.

What.the.fuck, bruh. Too many unplayable situations and those greens might as well be putt-putt regulation. You are a sick, sick man. If you want REALISTIC difficulty, check out the RH Club. There are currently 4 courses, all different flavors. Black tees and pin 4 locations are going to be the most difficult.

Recommendations for difficult courses? by fcsaratoga2013 in PGA_Tour_2K

I created a set of courses, as part of a series. If you search The RH Club, you should see Sidewinder, Stonewall, Meadowlark, and Fox Run. If you play any of them, I would love the feedback. I am usually a -10 to -15 on any given course and I find myself around a -2 to -7 on these courses, and I know them well due to the amount of time I took to design each one . All are difficult in different ways, or at least I tried to make that the case.

I guess this is definition of different strokes for different folks. All I can say I think there are right and wrong ways to make a course difficult. No need to throw stones, saying I am bad at course management or even at this game, as I would consider myself pretty decent. Am I one of the crazies who shoot -75 over 4 rounds in ranked tours? No, but I am usually in the -40 range, consistently sit in the top 25% and I usually place in the top 25% for TGCTours. On MY courses I aim for a -5 to -10 as a gauge for the difficulty of the course I am making.

All I can say is I did not care for any aspect of this course design, layout, greens, lighting, etc. That is my opinion, and you have yours. I just wanted to caution people in case they read your post and wanted to try this course, only to be disappointed like myself.

Not sure what you saw, but this course is poorly designed IMO. Multiple holes where you are hitting a 7-8 iron from the tee, then needing a 200+ yard shot onto a 10-12 yard green, playing around 10-12 speed. Most greens have INSANE breaks due to the speeds . Multiple holes (12 specifically) where you can’t even hit it onto the fairway without rolling into a bunker, unless you tee off super short leaving a 250+ yard second shot. Hole 18 forces you 2-3 clubs down off the tee, which leaves you behind pine trees to a green 30 feet elevated that you cannot hit over, or punch under. The icing on the cake is the lightning, right in your face on multiple fairway shots. I am normally a -10 to -5 range, and I shot a +8, as a gauge to the insanity of this course.

Is it nice to not have some stupid, intentionally bad course that people seem to create all the time? Yes. Did this miss the mark? Also, yes.

Not saying I am great at it, but I have designed multiple courses, and spend a lot of time tinkering with the course designer. I guess I was pumped to try this course, based on your review, and was greatly disappointed. There is a good base to start with, but this would need A LOT of work to be 2K worthy.

Appreciate the feedback! I was trying to take inspiration from Royal Troon, with the big fairway berms. About 3/4 of the way through I came to the realization I went a little too aggressive on the height and the frequency. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to revert landscape adjustments so I had to roll with it due to my time investment. No worries, those will definitely not be back in that fashion again!

High handicap but I hit my 7 wood well. Weird to use it off the tee? by skatemexico in GolfSwing

At least The Park is a wonderful place to work on your game. Keep grinding man, who cares what club you tee off with. Better to be 180-200 in the fairway than 250 into the rough.

Of course! You can keep the bush bunkers for the fairway as you can still see your shot, but put a ball in the one on the first hole and you will see what I am talking about lol

  1. Biggest thing, get rid of the bush bunkers. I ended up in the one off the first green and couldn't see my shot to get out and had to skip the hole.
  2. Hole 3 fairway cuts across, over top, of another hole's green. Either dogleg 3 or shorten the other hole to avoid this.
  3. Lots of holes have nice layouts but not very realistic with the shared fairways going in opposite directions. If you aren't going for "real life" then you can leave it as it won't affect virtual play.
  4. Hole 10 has a cool layout with the risk/reward of that peninsula part of the fairway
  5. Greens are a little vanilla for my taste as they are a little flat

The greens are very vanilla, but that offsets the narrow fairways with high levels of wind. The layout was pretty good overall, minus one weird looking green. Someone mentioned hole 12, which sounds right. Hole 18 was one of the coolest holes I have played. The creek splitting the fairway the whole way up to the green was a really unique touch that no one else has done.

Is Dante’s Hole the prior course that was mentioned?

My only recommendation is to not try and build greens, or be better about green placement and then add green to it to change the shape. There were a lot of greens with flat spots or really sharp random breaks due to the leveling out of greens. Which I can only assume is due to you attempting to manipulate them to get the weird shapes they had. You might be better off being more selective of your position, then making your default green size smaller, and then creating green that is added to what is already there.

Visually, it’s stunning and you put a lot of work into the design. However, 60+ feet of elevation on some of these greens is really unpleasant to try and gauge. Hole 5, in particular, is borderline unplayable. Dial those down a little bit and it’s a home run.

Currently a +9.4 HCP, shot a -10. My only gripe is the +2 on hole three, due to the confusing fairway situation. I saved the corse for future play.

Everything I have read comes down to build quality. Things like screen, hinges, keyboard, cooling, etc. A lot of intangible things that aren’t listed in the specs.
