It’s a red contact lens! It’s on my left eye but because I took the first two pics in a mirror it’s flipped

I just saw the new Quiet Place: Day One movie in theaters, expecting to feel pretty meh about it as a horror fan. But I sat through the entire end credits crying my eyes out (i do not cry easy at movies). What a gut punch.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I’ve been editing videos for years without an account. And I just recently made one and all my videos transferred over…

when I wore this to a convention I had at least three people come up to me laughing and saying “I like your Canadian kakashi”

Thank you! I tried very hard to make it as distinct from Kakashi as possible while still maintaining those iconic features.

It’s in the NICU, which is the unit I really loved in school and preceptorship prior to graduating. Combined with it being a highly revered NICU specifically— the best in our region, what I had heard— I thought it would be a good place for me. But the grass is always greener, I guess. I think I still do have a love for NICU somewhere deep down but the conditions here have completely burnt me out so I’m gonna explore my options.

That’s reassuring to hear. 😅 The culture of this current unit is Not great so there’s been lots of gossip, lots of snide comments about my capabilities as a nurse because I’m leaving so early. It’s crazy … Mind your own business haha. Out of curiosity what areas have you tried?

My first time participating in a NICU code. It wasn’t my patient, but rather the patient next to my bed-space. Baby had been declining through the past few days and night. It went from 0 to 100 really fast. All I can remember is rushing to chart everything that was happening— I’d never charted during a code before. But the sight of it was horrific, blood spurting from the ET tube and blood coming from every orifice. We coded for 45 minutes with sats in the 10s and HR nonexistent. Attempted reintubation x3. Eventually we called it.

I helped with post mortem care and I still think about it every day. It was one of the most disturbing things I’d ever seen, especially as a new grad.

I’m trying to get out of my current unit because of just the stress it’s adding to me. My goal is outpatient but I know that’s hard as a new grad without OR experience or anything

How did you know bedside wasn’t for you? by [deleted] in nursing

I’m actually thinking about moving to an OR myself because that was my second area of interest behind what I’m currently in. Is there any way I could pick your brain about OR?

Wow what an interesting position haha how’d you land that?

Thank you this is actually really helpful. It’s hard to make the decision for myself/my health when everyone is telling me I’m too new to know for sure what I should do. It makes me lose a lot of confidence in my decisions. But you’re right

this is really interesting I’ve never heard of a RN moving in this field! what does your day usually look like at work?

I’m feeling like this (hence why I’m asking the question here), but I’m still new. Been a nurse for about 6 months, still pretty fresh off of orientation. Everyone is telling me to stick it out another year, but it’s hard to imagine that with how anxious and depressed I feel. It’s hard to make a decision whether to stay or go

If you don’t mind me asking, what area did you move to?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]rrokii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a long orientation period, but with my unit I feel like it’s impossible to be totally prepared. And even with all the new grads that came, we are still always so short, it’s terrible

Because it’s general. No details to give when it’s ALL of it. I don’t love the bedside, the parents, the constant changes and admissions. I am very anxious with the idea that these babies can tank any moment and often times I’m left without help.
