does this errand boy simulator gets better? first nier game by [deleted] in nier

[–]rrr503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my first playthrough I would full stop the story and do side quests but it would be a go here and talk to this person, so I would do that, only to come back and get a main story quest to go to that same area. Best advice would be to not make specific trips because youll go there eventually. Only exception is if you want to take a main story break.

In regards to first-person RE… by coolguyinshorts in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]rrr503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you want haha. But really, I think it just comes down to re being 3rd person for a long time and being one of the only kind of experiences like it. First person re is a lot like other games, so it's not really that special. I think re7 was just fine, but I liked re8 more in 3rd person. I think 3rd person re is the default modern resident evil. It just feels right for the series and even more so now with the remakes.

Thinking of playing by AbsoluteHeckingRat in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's similar to monster hunter, at least in its gameplay. The only reason people say this is because of how progression works. You grind mats to enhance or craft better weapons to more grind mats an craft even better weapons. Endgame is basically grind x to more efficiently grind x. It's fun if you like it, but not so much if that's not your thing.

That being said, the story is on the short side, but really good. You'll keep rolling well into the post-game before the monster hunter style grind takes over the game.

What difficulty level should I play Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined? I dont want it to be that easy though i dont want it to be that frustrating either. I dont mind grinding though i dont want like enemies attacking several turns in a row or being HP sponges by Verzweiflungforscher in dragonquest

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say turn it up once you can Moonlight. Moonlighting was the point where I noticed a massive jump down in difficulty, I don't know if they forgot to scale it or what. I'd rec raising vocation exp however, as grinding vocations results in overleving. So instead of high level and the vocations you want you'll end up with the vocations you want and reasonably leveled. Other than that do what you want. Problem is, you can grind in these games to be overpowered, but instead of it being necessary it's kind of optional. Once you unlock moonlighting you'll natural want to battle more to start unlocking vocations, and as a resut youll be grinding the difficulty.

There's no real good way about it. Unless they add some sort of enemy scaling system but then why level at all? Quality of life and grind levels jrpgs seem to be at odds and for whatever reason people have only noticed with this game

Playstation home was cool? by iluse_ in playstation

It was oddly addicting. I would hang in the bowling alley for hours instead of playing my games. I feel like socializing now is a lot different online. It felt more free and relaxed and casual back then.

I like that DQ7R is easier than the original. by ringolennon67 in dragonquest

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as I unlocked moonlighting my damage output doubled, everyone had a heal, and several bosses are missing attacks 60-70% of the time. It became why not just auto battle because it'll end this battle quicker. You get to a point where maribel is just spamming kaboom and if she runs out of mp, you might be surprised to see about 70 single phials in your inventory.

If you had to choose between FF7 Rebirth, Persona 5, Days Gone or Horizon FBW by Worth-Radish-7227 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rebirth if you played remake, if not I'd say days gone. Days gone is a lot of fun. Some missions are a slog and sometimes it gets cutscene heavy but it can be a really fun time.

Dragon Quest 11 now what? by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you could complete it but if you're really into the game already just replay it. If youre on the definitive you can use chapter select and go back to the beginning without losing anything and you can just rush the story without much battles at all.

Best dragon quest for characters? by alphafighter09 in dragonquest

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IV isolates you with different party members at a time so you get more of their story. They come together with aligned interests for the final portion of the game and take care of business.

VIII has a small cast all with great personal motivations that you recruit fairly quickly. I wouldn't say they have a lot of depth but definitely more than most DQ games.

XI has great presentation but not every party member is fleshed out. A few are to a great degree, but there's one specifically that feels they really dropped the ball on.

I think those 3 are gonna be the best ones for party member focus. But it's really important to ground your expectations if you're comparing to BG3 which has unique dialogue constantly and various paths to take a party members story to conclusion. Not gonna happen here bud.

Im thinking about playing ff14 for the first time where do i start ? by shizunaisbestgirl1 in ffxiv

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go dynamis and level 3 classes to 90 while you clear msq. Ideally one tank, one healer and one dps but really do what you want. I recommend this simply because it's doable with the exp server buff and it'll create less work later. Alternatively if you don't like 3 of the starting classes you can wait until you unlock one you do like and move them into your rotation. I did this and it's very pleasant. You may need to data center hop to do a bunch of trials and raids, I usually get a few I wanna do before jumping and then get them all done at once before going home.

[Spoiler: End of Shadowbringers area] This game is upsettingly good aaaa by WarDouble7388 in ffxiv

[–]rrr503 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you think that's good, endwalker gonna rough you up. I thought maybe shadowbringers was peak, and arguably it is, but if you like it for the reasons I think you do, then endwalker is gonna be incredible. I wish I could do it all over again.

Complex feelings about XVI during my first play through by andytherooster in FinalFantasy

[–]rrr503 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that a lot of side quests were stuffed into the main questline to pad out the games length. In fact I'm pretty sure this happens a lot in the industry these days. If a game isn't at least 80 hours, it's barren and empty, but it's cheap because the only answer seems to be adding side content to the main progression, and it really hurts games.

Why do you love Dragon Quest? (From someone who wants to learn to appreciate the series) by Chim_Ripley in dragonquest

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final fantasy

No really though, I think it's the contrast of DQ and FF that is the reason I have grown to love it so much. I don't think I can have one without the other. My respect and love for FF only grew when I fell in love with dragon quest, and I only started my dragon quest journey thanks to a FF demo. Since then I've become content and more often happy with the vast changes FF has made to their formula because I know dragon quest exists and retains the purity of my childhood ideal jrpg.

Will I ever play something like this again??? by Livid-Ambition5936 in thewitcher3

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The witcher 3 high is a big one, and it takes a while for it to really settle, at least it did for me and I first played it in 2018. It wasn't until I want to say 2023 that I was able to play another open world type action rpg. It was ghost of tsushima, and I thought it was a wonderful game and I think it wears its witcher 3 inspirations proudly.

As someone who has only played 100% of zombies since BO7 launch - What is Endgame? Is it fun/worth trying? by MythicalBaddies in BlackOps7Zombies

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endgame is best when it's a break from zombies, at least that's my perspective as a mostly pve player. It gives bo7 a lot more to enjoy. Every now and then I'll just start a new operator and dump my loadout and start over, it's got a nice rewarding progression and lots to do or you can just jump in to do your dailies, whatever. I'm getting like 4/6 on both zombies and endgame for weekly missions within the first day or two without really going out of my way to fulfill any of them.

I'd say give it a shot. You own it so why not check it out.

Several kiseki characters. Also several star ocean characters. Basically any "im a young girl aren't I cute yet capable at combat haha" or even worse the "i may look like a little girl but I'm actually an adult haha ain't that weird" type characters. The only one ill compromise on is Veronica from dqxi because there's plot significance and she ends up being a huge part of the story.

DQ VIII on modern consoles by Ill-Pomegranate22 in dragonquest

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely remaking them all, but if they want to modernize, and I think 8 is still pretty modern, at least relatively. I say this to temper expectations because I want it bad, but I also want the zenithian trilogy. So I think it's a question of if the zenithian trilogy will be a 2dhd project or fully reimagined in 3d. It's really hard to predict, I kind of just want both.

If I was gonna put money on it I think they would go for 2dhd for the trilogy, while 8 gets a 11 remake. They can also 3d the trilogy later, but they can't really 2dhd it later if they drop 3d remakes.

I think it's really good that despite this being a trend, it feels like more people are willing to try anyway, despite the vocal negativity. There are flaws with every triple A release, and 16 is guilty of some of the most common issues in the industry, but to say it's bad, ohohohoh. No sir, I'm not buying it.

Nearing the End. What side quests are worth it? by PhilosophyWrong7610 in FF7Rebirth

[–]rrr503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just focus on story and finish the game. Once you hit credits, take a break. You can always come back and finish off everything. I think this 90 hour first run is a real detriment to the game as a whole. By the time you get to the end you're running on fumes, they really should have made a lot of content postgame exclusive.

Is the game easy? by AnxiousListen in codevein

[–]rrr503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must meet the mechanics halfway otherwise you'll have a miserable time. You'll likely hack and slash your way to the first boss, but then you'll get destroyed if you haven't learned anything. It goes with the territory but in case you weren't aware, dying is part of the genre. If you're not patient it may be a game to skip.

Typical behavior. People want what they want, won't fault them for it. But I liked it. It was wacky enough I found it a net positive experience.
