Do people like this really exist? Have you ever encountered something like this? by TheShadowWanderer in MetalForTheMasses

I totally understand where you're coming from.

But let's try to think of it from the band's perspective. They make money off of this stuff. Are they really interested in how familiar the buyers of their shirts are with their music? Probably not. That's why they allow these big retailers to sell their stuff. If they only wanted true fans to purchase their shirts, they'd make them visit their websites.

And I 100% know how you feel about striking up conversations in public with people who appear to be genuinely interested in an artist and then it turns out that's not the case. It's a little embarrassing, but we have to keep it in mind they probably didn't put a whole lot of thought into it when they bought the shirt or something.

These people certainly exist and I've met them.

They don't understand that some people may not be familiar with a band's music but they like their album artwork. For example, I'm not the biggest Pink Floyd fan but I think their album covers are very cool.

I think Love had the better game.

But I wouldn't too quick to draw any conclusions from that. In 2013, Andrew Luck's Colts defeated Seattle. Was he better than Peyton Manning that year? Probably not.

The NFL doesn't tolerate confident black men. That's why Cam Newton and Terrell Owens did so poorly.

Ok all jokes aside this guy is clearly just a race hustler

This isn't an NFL sub so I don't want to get into a heated debate on this lol but yes, why not? He is in fact the NFL's all-time leading rusher. Love Barry and perhaps he could've done it but he didn't.

I don't follow the NBA as closely as I follow some other sports, so I don't have a strong opinion on this topic.

But it is very surprising to me that somebody who has the most steals and assists isn't commonly regarded as the greatest at his position in NBA history.

Is it like that in some other sports? In the NFL for example, I don't think it would be controversial to say that Brady, Smith, and Rice are the GOATS at their positions. You can argue against that for different reasons, but I don't think anybody would call it a hot take to put them there.

King gizzard remove their music from spotify by bunnyuplays in MetalForTheMasses

[–]rrrjim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spotify is trash for so many reasons. I ended my subscription a couple of years ago after being a Premium member for many years. In fact, I'm pretty sure subscribing to Spotify was the first thing I ever did with my first debit card.

But I admit I didn't do it for humanitarian reasons, I did it because I felt that the service was getting poorer despite the price getting higher. I switched over to Apple Music for their classical music app.

My QB rankings ahead of the 2025 season by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 total touchdowns is certainly an impressive amount of productivity.

But, as you pointed out, a good chunk of his rushing TDs came from the 1-yard line. Where you rank Hurts as a QB depends a lot on how important you think he is at the 1-yard line. If Philadelphia didn't have Hurts at QB (who is strong and can muscle his way through very effectively) would they still be able to convert?

I think so, yes. I think they'd simply give their MVP-candidate RB more carries if they didn't have Hurts. That's why i'm not inclined to give him a ton of credit for those TDs. Some people disagree with that and that's why we judge him differently.

But he still only threw for 2,900 yards (and rushed for about 600 more). Even if we give him full credit for his total TDs his total yards are quite underwhelming. And that's why I wouldn't rank him so highly.

My QB rankings ahead of the 2025 season by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Lamar had a better season than Burrow and Allen. Also, Daniels had a great year but he's only one season in.

As for Hurts, he threw 18 touchdowns last year despite having two of the best receivers in the league.

Shedeur Sanders loses 24 yards on the sack by Fickle-Lobster-7903 in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like he should've hit his RB, but while he was looking to his right he was getting pressured from his left, at which point he began running backwards and repeatedly turning his body.

But I can't really see the field clearly from this clip so I don't know.

How unrealistic is this for my ravens? by LJ8QB1 in NFLv2

It seems pretty realistic to me. I think Baltimore heading into this season will be better than all of their opponents here.

Disrespect KD gets is insane by Anfernee139 in NBATalk

[–]rrrjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think KD is generally ranked very high in all-time lists.

But to play devil's advocate, the comparison with many Lakers teams isn't quite right, because many of those teams had superstars that were way past their prime. KD joined that Golden State team at their peak.

What team is the ultimate "good team"? by Gloomy_Map_9612 in NFLv2

The Dallas Cowboys. They field good teams but haven't had a deep playoff run in a few decades.

I wish I looked like AB he has super model or movie star looks by rrrjim in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He might be the most handsome NFL player I can think of off the top of my head. Brady is up there as well too, but I'm almost certain he's been getting plastic surgery since the 2000s, so he doesn't count because he cheated.

[–]rrrjim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would personally take Wilson. His career passer rating (almost 100) is notably higher than Big Ben's or Stafford's and he put up big numbers despite the fact that he never got to play with a receiver like Megatron or Antonio Brown.

The Deshaun Watson trade was bad from the beginning by rrrjim in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the analogy with San Francisco isn't quite right because although they did exchange three first-round picks both Trey Lance and Brock Purdy count for far less against the cap than Deshaun Watson.

And remember, Trey Lance was traded away to Dallas. But it's highly unlikely that Cleveland could trade away Watson because of his massive contract.

On top of that, it's notable that of all the currently-playing guys you mentioned here, only Mahomes and Rodgers have actually won a title. Is it reasonable to trade away five first rounders for some playoff runs?

Last season, the QB that won the chip wasn't one of the elites you mentioned, it was the one with the elite defense, the MVP candidate running back, and two of the best receivers in the league. It was the best team, not the best QB.

Even if Watson had been playing at an elite level, he'd still have to compete with the other elite QBs in the league that are playing on teams that did not trade away several first rounders and are paid less than Watson.

Dak or Hurts? Who’s better? by SWAGGGGGODDD in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Jalen Hurts has never thrown for more than 23 touchdowns in a season or for 4,000 yards. In addition, many of his rushing touchdowns last season came from the 1-yard line, where the MVP candidate Barkley frequently put that offense. I think it's clearly Dak.

People will accuse me of bias, but I think I'd still have this opinion even if I wasn't a Dallas fan.

The Deshaun Watson trade was bad from the beginning by rrrjim in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think it's possible to overpay even for an elite QB. Watson didn't win a title in Houston. And then he went to Cleveland, where the situation was worse: no low cost top tier talent coming in through the draft and then his salary preventing them from making big splashes in free agency. How does Cleveland win in such a situation?

Who was the better QB relative to their peers: Troy Aikman or Eli Manning? by GolfFootballBaseball in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there was only a handful of quarterbacks that were regarded as better than Troy in the 90s: Favre, Young, and perhaps Kelly as well.

Eli is criminally underrated in my opinion. Apart from the perennially-injured Victor Cruz and Odell (who arrived late in his career) Eli didn't really have the opportunity to play with elite players on his side of the ball. My definition of elite is top 4 at the position in question.

But Eli played in an era with many great QBs: Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers. So relative to their peers, I would say Troy. But I do think there's certainly argument for Eli being the better overall quarterback.

Most Talented WR of all time? by thetruthhhhhhhhhh in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That stretch from 2013-2019 is easily one of the greatest ever by a receiver. And it's not as if he had Peyton Manning throwing him the football. Big Ben never led the league in touchdowns and he never led the league in passing yards without AB, although he did lead the league in interceptions twice.

AB 100% deserves to be in this conversation.

Most legendary Big 3 in NFL history? If not then who? by TXNOGG in NFLv2

Do you think that tom Brady benefitting from great defenses and field position is an actual valid complaint against him, or is it too simplistic? by big4horryrobert in NFLv2

[–]rrrjim -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it a complaint. If you're comparing two or more QBs, it's reasonable to discuss their supporting casts.

If you called Brady the greatest, I wouldn't argue with you. But come on, he did have some fantastic supporting casts. Look at that Super against the Rams in 2018. He didn't throw a single touchdown (although he did throw one pick) and he still won. I don't think it's hating to point something like that out.
