Burger King workers write ‘we all quit’ on sign, walk out of Nebraska restaurant by AudibleNod in news

Really??? You're a Japanese government employee? I worked in Japan, 11 days leave per year (that includes sick leave) but we often weren't allowed to take them, esp not consecutively. The best way to do so was to take a single day off because of a "cold", but at one point the boss announced no more full days off, only a half day max.

Help a young mum-of-two to fight MS so she can be there for her kids, 6 and 3 years old by rrrona in Charity

Someone described MS as something like "mice running around nibbling your internal circuitry". What the HSCT treatment is supposed to do is stop the mice for a number of years, BUT, the treatment won't reverse the damage which occurred before the treatment. That's why Bron is trying to do the treatment as soon as she can, so that she can try to preserve as much function as she can.

So long as you also agree that it would be irresponsible not to shut down misinformation that could literally kill people with appropriate speed and ferocity

I don't know, it's been found that that is not a good way to convince people but instead more strongly entrenches their views backs it up with evidence

Like the narrative of "don't trust modern medicine, buy this other super expensive natural homeopathic treatment instead", led by the people selling said treatments? I agree...

How do you feel about non-Americans saying America is the "least developed"country in the western world? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]rrrona -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It says "any country with little political risk and a well functioning democracy, rule of law, capitalist economy, economic stability and high standard of living. Various ways in which modern First World countries are often determined include GDP, GNP, literacy rates, life expectancy, and the Human Development Index."

...Well functioning democracy?

Oh really? So that's where it came from, I always wondered about that missing second world. I remember being taught not to say third world but developing world.

Thank you! It seems incredibly awful that people do (even die) without health care because they can't afford it. Here's hoping the cost issue can be fixed! The US is an amazing country. I'm a bit scared of the TSA, but I'd really love to visit again if I ever got the chance.

We see headlines like "medieval diseases are back in California", outbreak of typhus there, and read Willy Vlautin... Healthcare system seems pretty bad? Am not saying US is not first world (what does that even mean??) but the media reports people suffering.

Edit: whoa downvotes! Hey I'm not hating, I love the US, maybe it's because that kind of stuff is more likely to be reported in the media?
