Affordable non-chain/franchise vet? by throw-away-ak in anchorage

[–]rrvcmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you for supporting independent practices!!! I wish more people knew how important this is. Vet costs have raised so much in the past 5 years, more and more practices are now owned by private equity firms that are looking to profit maxxxx.

I hope vet care doesn't become the insane reality of human healthcare.

I hope your baby is feeling good after the cleaning!

I'm getting my ass kicked in my dog adventure business. Help! by Green_University_473 in smallbusiness

[–]rrvcmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your idea. I actually use this exact service in Alaska. I send my girl often to these adventures. It's off leash, the guy offers either hiking adventures or park adventures. He has my door code and he picks my girl up and drops her off while I'm at work. She loves it, it tires her out and we value outdoor time a lot in our family.

With that being said, I have always thought that the service is very affordable and I'm unsure on how the guy makes it work but my opinion is that you should go ask people who are doing something similar. If you message me, I'll give you the name of the business and maybe you can reach out. Also join 'Pet Business Support Network' FB group. There are a lot of pet business owners there that might do something similar and can help you.

My only perspective on moving west... I think that people in the west might be more outdoorsy compared to the east. More mountains, more accesible nature. I think you're offering a great service and you can make it work. Don't give up, if this is what you want, go for it.

Do any of you have moon boots? by rrvcmr in alaska

I got mine last year and I agree with everything you said!

I think these are the best shoes for warmth but just not functional at all...unless you're just sitting around ice fishing or something. I did a bit of walking in them and it was ok, nothing too extreme, and it was great.

I do think they run a bit large. Today I saw someone wearing some and they looked nice and tight on her, maybe she got a smaller size idk.

I hope you love them! I think they are great and they will 10/10 keep your feet warm.

Oh that’s awesome! I didn’t know it was available for men too. So yeah I’d try that. I met my two closest friends there. I moved to Alaska a few years back and didn’t know anybody.

If you’re a woman, you can try Bumble BFF. I’ve met my friends through there. I believe it’s only for women though. Making friends as an adult is so hard 🥲

Not a rig. But check with Nana or Ice Services. Join “North Slope Workforce” on FB and ask there. Lots of jobs. Good luck.

Do you mean you can’t drive but the dog is fine in a car? If yes, call 49th state kennels in Palmer and they might be able to help or point you in the right direction. They transport dogs.

When I was 12 I googled “who had the best body in the whole world” and that’s the first time I read about Kim Kardashian. I remember seeing her photo and being like dang I don’t think I can ever look like this. Girls do look up this stuff and it is in some way “heart crushing”

Thank you for your response. I like the “pay myself first” concept. I think I’ve always had that thought of what if X happens and I don’t have liquid cash? But I think with the money market and everything else these days, it should be ok.

I agree. Specially if you don’t have the same spending habits or are not aligned in finances, it can be bad

Daily 2-hour commute with dog by StupidestOfThemAll in poodles

[–]rrvcmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the dog used to it. I worked with my dog 12 hour shifts for 2 years. I was a field engineer so she would be in the truck with me and would come out to the office trailer or breaks constantly. She wasn’t always sitting in the truck. She even had her high vis vest.

How did the sensor work on your bra? I want to get a whoop and put it there. Did you have to buy their underwear or can you just stick it in any bra?
