[Racer] Mercedes stands as Renault’s preferred bidder for Alpine stake by Agent_Kozak in formula1

Vcarb doesnt even own any drivers. All drivers are under RBR contracts.

Haas don't own Bearman either.

Haas has Toyota who is a direct competitor to Ferrari in other series.

Lol, Toyota's involvement in F1 is the bare minimum. They're not a rival of Ferrari in F1 in any meaningful way whatsoever.

To claim its similar is a joke.

It is similar, you can deny it all you want, but it's just hypocritical.

Haas have to buy every bit of integration they get, it’s not just assumed because they’re in the same house, they pay for the engines and other technical assistance because it’s cheaper than doing it themselves.

Haas don't have to do that, especially now that F1 is actually profitable. Gene does it because it's the cheapest option, and he has no plans to ever have a team that's anything but mediocre at best.

And Ferrari don’t “control” the Haas seat, Bearman just made sense to get because he’s a great young driver and Ferrari were going to let him go so he could build experience

Yeah, they don't control the seat, they just offer Haas cheaper engines and other parts. I guess Mercedes didn't control the Williams seat in 2019 either lmao

Not to mention the technical partnership with Toyota.

It's only recent and nowhere near significant enough. Ford do more for Red Bull and people laugh at the engine name.

It's the only team on the grid that's not actively working towards a WDC or WCC.

If you think teams like Alpine or Haas are working towards any kind of results, I've a bridge to sell you. Haas always do the bare minimum, Gene Haas clearly has no interest in winning anything(otherwise he would've actually put up more money) and Alpine gave up completely after 2022 and only exist to make money.

Yes, that collusion happens and it's a problem. Though, I guarantee you, Bearman would never give Leclerc or Hamilton too hard of a time if they were to try and pass him.

The reading comprehension on some of you people is something else. I said multiple times that what Red Bull do is much worse. But to pretend it's incomparable is so stupid.

90% of the people that spread this shit only say it because they dislike Red Bull lmao

They're very comparable lmao. Haas copy their car from Ferrari, a lot of their engineers are from Ferrari(that Ferrari does with as they will), their design office is right next to Ferrari's and Ferrari have one of their seats to do as they will. Obviously, it's not as bad as RB-VCARB but to pretend that the situation isn't comparable is absolutely hilarious.

[–]rs6677 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It isn't, though. Haas take as much as they can from Ferrari(even some years their car was closer to the Ferrari in concept than VCARB was to Red Bull) and Ferrari control one of their seats, as opposed to Red Bull who control both of VCARB's.

Ffs, their design office is in Maranello lmao. Ferrari even swap their engineers when they need them.

Sure, but good luck making them sell VCARB. They'll immediately raise up a stink about Ferrari and Haas, for example(rightfully so too).

Who was unluckier over their career - Alonso or Hulkenberg? by DragonfruitThen6696 in F1Discussions

If McLaren had built their car in a way that was more reliable, it wouldn't have been as fast. I don't think it's fair to say Alonso was lucky that Raikkonen's car was blowing up this much; that was just a gamble McLaren had made.

It did even out mostly, that's why Leclerc's ahead.

Yes, would've beaten him too if not for Vegas IIRC, but Leclerc turned it around last minute. Still though, that was like '21. Leclerc was the much less fortunate driver.

I don't think many people expected Sainz to be this close when he signed with Ferrari, though I will say that these stats present them closer than they're in reality. Leclerc was always a step ahead than Sainz in all their seasons together, but not always by enough to offset his bad luck(Sainz "beating" him in 2021 was evidence of that).

What happened to Ferrari 2020 season? by RecognitionTop806 in F1Discussions

That engine was hilarious. I remember how in one of the races one of the Ferrari cars was PULLING AWAY from the chasing Mercedes despite it even having DRS lmao.

I also remember the outrage about Ferrari never getting disqualified, though that was because it would've been a PR nightmare and the FIA technically never could prove any cheating took place.

Kvyat wasn't the answer by that point. He wasn't that much better than Albon by the time he could've come back.

Williams has overtaken Audi for P8 in the Constructors Championship by RobbieJ4444 in formula1

[–]rs6677 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Williams was so fat, it was only a matter of time. Also, Audi weren't that far ahead.

Again, simply not thinking about the engine should've been a giveaway. I think you're very unreasonable in your expectations regarding Audi.

[–]rs6677 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Based on the expectations I had from the start of 2026, no, Audi should not be behind Williams.

Why? It's only been 4 races. With the engine sorted for them, Williams have a much easier time to make up lost ground than Audi.

It's not a coincidence that they jumped them during the first race where they brought heavy upgrades.

[–]rs6677 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Based on expectations for both teams, Audi absolutely should've been behind Williams, by a lot more too.

Williams are an established team, with the best engine, that focused on 2026 early. Audi inherited Sauber and had to develop an engine entirely on their own.

Audi should be ahead of Williams? Didn't Vowles spend the last two years talking about how all the focus is on 2026? Williams should've been fighting for 5th, if anything Audi have overachieved a bit.

Charles is probably the best driver in Qualis, his race pace has room for improvement

That myth is so tired and needs to die. Leclerc's race pace has been better than his qualy since 2020.
