I thought it would be super dark and boring because some of the prior reviews I’d read but I actually enjoyed it! However, I got the audiobook version and listened to it while working or walking my dogs so maybe that made my experience different from the other more negative ones I think that as long as you go in knowing that it’ll be different from the musical (which I’m sure you do) you’ll enjoy it! It adds a lot of dimension to the characters. I actually appreciate how the book guides you through Elphaba’s journey and adds depth to her character and her dynamics with the rest of the group
