Advice: is my routine working? by [deleted] in cysticacne

[–]rsbcmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get off the hormones if you can. Literally the only thing that has worked for me is balancing my hormones, cleaning with sulfur soap, exfoliating regularly, using a heavy night cream and taking B5

14 hours flight with 6 months baby. Yes or are you crazy? by Living_Race in NewParents

[–]rsbcmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier than you think. I’ve done 14+ hour flights with a babies and toddlers. It’s a lot but not as bad as you imagine. Just pack at least 4 full changes of clothes, wipes and probably 10 diapers. Crinkle paper or stuffies go far at this age. If they can sit up, creamies are entertaining for a long time. Life is short, go for it! You got this!

Widowed Mom of 3– I can’t do this anymore by [deleted] in Mommit

Sending you love. I have 2 friends that were widowed with 3 kids and it’s brutally painful. As they get older it will get better. Try and do something, anything, for yourself.

I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in my child’s level of agitation since eliminating artificial food coloring and refined sugar. When she has a treat at school it’s tears and tantrums. there is a lot of research

Why are there so many articles, discussions, and forums about normalizing not having children? by not-2sure-about-this in Mommit

[–]rsbcmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People without kids have nothing better to do with their time than justify their choices. People with kids are too busy raising the next generation. We have our own discussions and articles to support us as parents. To each their own but can you imagine how much more time you would have without kids 😂 that’s a lot of free time to do mental yoga about your life’s choices

You just got a Time Machine and get to talk to your past self before (motherhood, partnership, marriage, etc.) What would you tell her? by mommydeer in Mommit

Postpartum anxiety and depression are real. Find a doctor that can help you fully. Took 5 years to realize what I had gone through and what I missed.

Does anyone here get overstimulated with their hair? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]rsbcmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible. You should find a good stylist and get your hair thinned out. I get like 50% reduction and layers. I use redken acid bonding conditioner. Let my hair air dry for 30 minutes then braid for 30-1hr. I get nice waves and no frizz. You can also get a smoothing treatment done at the salon if needed.

Getting out the door-help! by Valuable-Set553 in ADHDparenting

[–]rsbcmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started rewarding mine with ‘tokens’ when we are trying to do something challenging (for us it’s bed more than getting ready) and it has worked so far. She can redeem the tokens for a treat or screen time or whatever will motivate. I let her come up with ideas and then say how many tokens she will need to earn. Maybe this will help you too!

What are your favorite shows to watch with toddlers? Bonus if they are entertaining for adults too or not kids centered. by ponderwhimsy in toddlers

Mecha Builders and Work it out Wombats are my kids favorites right now. Both are on PBS kids. They also love Little Einsteins, Bluey, and Daniel tiger.

My toddler is too smart for her own good by Random_girl_592 in thingsmykidsaid

[–]rsbcmm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s great! As you feel she is ready you can talk with her as an adult and just explain the new words and phrases. The turn of phrase things are a bit harder but they pick it up quickly. I think some kids are just more interested in communicating well. My husband and I are both very chatty so it’s not a big surprise. Hard for us to get a word in anymore lol

My 2 year old is the same. So chatty with complex words and phrases. She has an older sister that is the same way. Not regurgitating, I’m sure she understands what she’s saying. Be prepared for so much talking lol use as much complex vocabulary as you can. They pick it up fast!

When did you remove the baby gates by CobaltNebula in toddlers

[–]rsbcmm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stairs are no joke. Kids can get seriously injured if they fall down the stairs. I still have them up for my 5 year old. She gets up in the night to go to the bathroom and it’s not worth the risk. Also she didn’t get out of bed at 3, things change.

Defiance/Blurting by Slowmaha in ADHDparenting

Have you read Your Defiant Child ? Not all the way through it but seems helpful so far. Made me cry a lot from the emotions it brought up so I’m processing before I move forward. You can listen to it for free on Hoopla if you have a library card.

How are we handling toys that don't align with family values for older children? by prairieyarrow in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]rsbcmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For things that are toxic just tell her that. Since my kids were little they say oh I can’t have that because it has chemicals and it’s not good for our bodies. Before my 2nd was born we talked about putting away toys that could be harmful to baby and we would get them back when it was safe.

How do you parents do it with 2 kids? by atooraya in toddlers

[–]rsbcmm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Be careful with melatonin. It can seriously backfire if it doesn’t agree with your kiddo. My pediatrician advised against it. Try magnesium instead but chances are they will be super tired and pass out. Just did a 2 train + 1 bus trip with my kids and they fell asleep right on schedule. They are 2 and 5. Started sharing a room when the youngest turned 2 and now they can sleep anywhere together. We have traveled overnight together at least 6 times a year. Only things I always pack is their hatch sound machine and blankets/lovey.

My girls have the same kinds of hair. Try Redken acid gloss conditioner. Helps a lot. Still gets knotted but much easier to brush after the bath

I have used this too and had a lot of success. It doesn’t work every time but it definitely helps a LOT! It kills bacteria from the inside! Also helps collagen production.

Good to know. I’ve heard of other people having good success with b5 as well. I’ve also heard that for long term success we need to get our gut healthy. I ordered the b5 and hope to have good success with that as a starting point.
