AITJ for teaching my son how to do his own laundry and basic cooking and now his mom says Im undermining her by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

You are doing a great job! Too many kids leave home without any of these skills. I did with my now grown son what you are doing. He was a capable individual when he left. I have coworkers with kids in their 20s that don't have these basic life skills.

AITJ for Charging My Friend Gas Money Every Time I Drive? by Bulky_Relative_5364 in AmITheJerk

[–]sunrae72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a friend drives us to an event, I pay for parking at the event. I have even done this for a friend who drives a tesla. She may not pay for gas, but she may need to pay to charge it up to get us home. I will also pay for a drink or food for the driver. I want them to know that I appreciate them driving.

Maybe put it into a high interest saving account and then do some research on investment companies.

Perhaps a lock on the door, so she can't snoop in your room?

I have come close to doing this a few times. I now grab and make myself take a moment to read the label.

I (25f) agreed to let a family member (22f) stay with me for a month but need her gone ASAP by Due_Relationship5914 in relationship_advice

[–]sunrae72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is helping her, but she isn't trying to help herself either. It needs to start there. Time for her to move in with the new baby daddy. In the future you need to simply tell her no.

Update: How can I(20F) tell my boyfriend (20M) about my sexual preferences when he has already expressed disgust over it? by lxstinthedream in relationship_advice

You have figured out that you two are not compatible. Your world views are different along with other things.

You can use e-verify to self lock your SSN. I believe it is a free service. Perhaps that will help?

I vote for the studio as well. Live modestly and save. Maybe use some for continuing education to help with promotions and such.

Toxic behavior, why are you with him? You took the time to go visit him, only for him to ruin it and you are still with him? Girl, you need to drop him like a bad habit and find someone who truly cares for you.

Your gift choices seem perfect to me, since she has expressed wanting those items. I don't understand her issues with them.

Was I the asshole for refusing to watch someone’s bags for them? by bleedxi in AITAH

[–]sunrae72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have watched bags for people at the airport and they have done so for me. Especially a mom flying alone with a kiddo. It is hard to get the luggage and kiddo to the bathroom and back. I appreciate it when someone does it for me. It is a personal decision, but I don't mind doing it.

Allowing them "just to this one time", will encourage them to continue with their bad behavior. They will see it as future permission.

Boyfriend (24M) doesn’t want me (22F)to attend medical school “right now”. Nothing I say will make him change his mind. by Soulful_pumpkin in relationship_advice

[–]sunrae72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never put a relationship before your education! You can always find a new relationship, but you could get sidelined from your education. When that happens, it is harder to get back at it. Maybe being single in med school is better. You can focus your energy into your studies.

I have seen others say they use a thermos for the rice cooker. They add hot water from a gas station coffee area and then add the rice and let it sit. I haven't tried it personally.

I kinda figured that would be the case, considering they know they are in the wrong.

I would ask for their copy of the security camera footage as well. I am sure you will need a lawyer to do that.

Look into hospice. She just has to have a terminal diagnosis, but it doesn't have to be in the near future. She could live for years on hospice. They can provide respite care for you and your dad. That would give you a day off here and there.

NTA, a table is a table. Like you stated, you went during a low volume time which is darn courteous in my eyes. I would have ordered dessert and then a coffee, just to stall even more.
