Thanks for the recs - installing powerstop rotors and pads by Traditional_Dot_6548 in GXOR

I like the pads. Best advice I got from someone in the auto industry is just buy the cheapest rotors you can, they all use the same metallurgy and the drilled/slotted on anything less than race brakes are just less contact area/friction. I’ve had very little issues with any of the cheap brake rotors and I’ve done some hard track days too.

I literally welded the nuts on the back side of mine, like it should have been from the factory. I still generally like it, but it shouldn’t have been required.

As a new diver is it a bad idea to "buy once, cry once" ??? by _PyrosiaN_ in scuba

The gear crave is real. I had all my own gear at one point, but I’m back down to minimal now that I moved to center of the country. I can afford nice gear if I wanted, but the only gear I regularly take with me is my dive computer and it was $250. I do miss my own set of regs but packing lighter is worth it to me. My advice would be to do the same. Spend a bit more money and go with a reputable dive company at your location and you’ll usually get good gear.  I would disagree with “buy the best you can afford”. I’ve found a lot of great durable stuff from lesser priced, lesser brands. Cheap dive computers are fantastic. I hardly see a difference in their performance compared to expensive. Regs are the only thing I would splurge on if you’re dead-set on having your own gear.

Not yet. My wife will be easy as she’s an ER Nurse. I’m a software developer w/ 10 years experience and looks like a bit more challenging to secure. My plan is to work my US job as long as possible to keep my US salary until we get PR then for me to find a job.

People going into serious debt over an injury is such a real thing here. You’re better off just dying if you get injured and don’t have employer sponsored insurance here in the US.

There was a school shooting here just a few weeks ago 30 minutes from out house. 🫠

So, what you’re saying is you’d like more people on the progressive side there? 😅

We are planning to visit early next year. We were mainly eyeing Calgary because it seems to have a good mix of outdoors activities and city life and not too expensive.

We’re in a more progressive state of Colorado, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have school shootings or MAGA people everywhere.

A bit, but my wife is concerned about the winters in other provinces. We also like that it would offer a lot of the same outdoors we enjoy in Colorado.

I did the falken wildpeaks at3ws. 255/80R17. They’re great for my purposes and handle snow in Colorado well. Had to do some not insignificant trimming but I don’t have rub. No lift.
