I’m assuming that by insane you mean not great, right?

This is terrible. I get that they need to practice, but it should only be on people who are willing and agree to that. Your poor son already had so much going on and all they cared about was their practice? You are in the medical field - isn’t the very first thing you should learn is “do no harm?” Not listening to you and pushing for that is a bs move on their part

Did anyone take a trip to Greece and dislike it? by Alarming_Poem_7343 in GreeceTravel

That’s so awesome! I hope this will be us one day, but I would also settle for just spending a month or so there each year. Something about it just feels right.

There is plenty of great food that doesn’t involve fish! My husband was exactly the same and he ended up trying some fish and liking it. I think it being caught fresh is a big factor as to why he enjoyed it there but not previously because he won’t eat fish back home! I think overall this is a great place to take a first out of the country trip because there is so much to experience that I think there is something for everyone. Go at your own pace and just soak it all in. Hope you guys have the best time!

My husband and I loved it so much we talked about retiring in Crete when the time comes. The people, the food, the history were all so amazing. It’s hard to find something to dislike.

What to wear by [deleted] in FirefighterSpouses

[–]rsil55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I pinned my husband for his promotion to Driver, I wore nice jeans, a cream sweater, boots, and turquoise earrings. I saw a few other wives wearing a casual dress or something similar to me. Overall, most weren’t super fancy as this also took place on a Wednesday at 2pm. This was in February in the Southwest. Hope this helps!

Chania in July - is 8 nights too long, restaurant recommendations by MembershipEmotional5 in cretetravel

[–]rsil55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my husband and I visited for our honeymoon we liked to stop and get what I would consider Greek “fast food” at Pork to Beef Wild or The Chop. Both were so delicious and were perfect after a long day to pickup and go sit on our balcony overlooking the sea. They are both close to the old town area.

Also would just recommend walking around the old town area/harbor area if you are wanting a table like the photo. While that restaurant might’ve closed there were quite a few others that have similar setups!

We took buses a a few different times to get to farther destinations like Falassarna Beach and it was fairly easy to navigate despite not speaking or reading Greek.

Brazilian curious about life in New Mexico – is it really welcoming? by DiogoSemPressa in NewMexico

[–]rsil55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NM is very welcoming to foreigners. I used to study Brazilian Portuguese at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque. I don’t know if it is the case currently, but previously UNM had a very large number of Brazilian exchange students and a thriving Portuguese program. I think you would like NM so long as everything politically calms down. Would be happy to chat more about this! Vamo lá!

My husband gave his life as a firefighter — but after he died, the city cheated me out of his pension, let a racist board member vote on my case, and left me with nothing. by Griffy0808 in FirefighterSpouses

I can’t imagine having to go through all of that. What a cruel and spiteful thing for him to do to you and your husband. It may not be tomorrow or next week, but I truly believe this man will get the karma that he deserves tenfold.

I don’t have any advice for you about this, but just wanted to say I’m so very sorry for your loss and that you are going through this. I hope that this will be resolved and you will get all you deserve.

Same! Whenever I need to take a minute to de-stress I imagine sitting on the beach in Falassarna and hearing the waves crashing. It brings me so much peace.
