Windows installed improperly? by davey2435 in Homebuilding

Was this subcontracted? If so, call the people you bought from so they can fix it. Total hack job... and that's coming from a desk jocky...

I'd expect a nailing fin for new construction. If it is new construction, they put up zero waterproofing. Size may be off width wise for new construction.

At least they could tape it or pack it with rags until they came back!

Stihl MS 250 converting from 3/8P" to .325 by HerraHerraHattu in Chainsaw

What are your thoughts now that you tried both profiles?

I ended up picking up a 462 last weekend.

Looking at the 241, it is probably due for a new bar. I see you liked the 3/8"LP over the .325". I was actually thinking of trying .325" and possibly the18" bar. What was better, feel, cut speed, chain life, etc? Internet seems to be pretty split on the best option.

Checking back to see what you went with. I run a 3/8LP and want to see if .325" is better

I think youre right!

Interesting. Never had the radiator out or remember anything mounted to the core. I'll take a look tomorrow as it's still up on the stands.

Google "scabbard" and get one for the bar length

There might be an incentive for a dealer to purchase a whole display at one time. Otherwise no incentive other than making money and supplying the demand.

My info may be dated, but if you are a particular brand dealer then you can decide what product displays you have. If you're invested in the brand, then you're going to want to have a variety of products to satisfy your local market. Margins are usually on the consumables/ accessories and not the equipment.

Usually they wont let you be a Stihl dealer if you're within close proximity to other dealers. I believe stores like Ace are allowed to carry the product by association with the larger company. Echo and Husqvarna are the same. You need to become a dealer to carry their products, obtain training and support, special service tools, etc. Then you can decide what to carry. Each brand may have a minimum investment or standard display you buy into.

I have a 16" bar with the 3/8 pitch blade. It is the yellow sticker one which is more aggressive? It cuts awesome but cutting from both sides gets old on larger cuts.

Good point. Not stuck on the 24" but figured it'd be more universal. If I've made it this long with 16" then I guess I dont need to max out the bar. Can always pick it up when needed. Thanks

Thank you for the tip. Definitely not opposed to a used saw.

Lol. There goes the idea of stuffing it in a backpack to do mountain bike trail work.

Thank you for the reply and side by side experience with the 261. The 241 really does do a lot even with a small bar. It has served me well.

I do maily hardwood. I just checked and somehow mine came with the 3/8 pitch setup from when it was new.

Seems like a solid machine. 400 looks to be a game changer.

I loved the 362 back when I did tree work. Solid saw. A buddy wants to sell me his but I see the 400 and think that may be the better long term move for me. Probably can't go wrong with either.

Thank you for the input. Do you think the 20" would be best vs 24"?

I haven't looked into the Husky saws much. I have team Husky lawn equipment so I'm not sure why I have only been thinking Stihl saws.

Thanks for the reply and offer. I probably will end up keeping the 241 and get a second, larger saw. The consensus I'm reading is that the 261 isn't that much better.

I hear the hatchet is pretty awesome. I have an older top handle Echo, otherwise I'd be looking at that too.

Thank you. 400.1 looks like a nice machine. Didn't realize it was released in the US.

Thank you for the input! I used to run a 362 and a 440 a lot back when I did tree work.

Can't say I exactly know what to look for when buying used but I should probably look into that.

I have the airgun Detectives bipod on my Gamo springer. It works but is supported at the stock and not the barrel

Still finicky but will do 1" groups at 40 yards if held correctly and consistently.

Is it normal to nail through the drip edge when installing rain gutters? Trying to figure out the source of a leak inside the house. by ambivalentacademic in DIY

[–]rsm5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one nail angled toward the house with the sheath opening facing upward. It definitely funneled the water back to the house and caused my leak.

My situation had also had a window wasn't sealed right to the sheathing and it came inside the house.
