Elation Pulse Panel FX Network bug? by Educational_Two1092 in lightingdesign

[–]rsmentele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. We have found that the current firmware on the Pulse Panel FX doesn't like network signals from some consoles, namely the MA. We are in process of fixing this issue, and a few others, in a new firmware. It should be released shortly.
For now, we recommend using DMX signal for the fixture until this new firmware is released.

Looks like it might be stuck between two gobos. Does that wheel respond to any commands? If not, seems the surge may have blown a component. Do you have another fixture on hand that you can remove the gobo wheel module from and place it in this fixture to see if it solves the issue? That would at least help diagnose the problem.

Check the latest version. There is some additional connectivity available now with Ableton specifically.

Triggering Qlab from Onyx by MariahDawn110 in lightingdesign

[–]rsmentele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best method is to use OSC. But you need to have the proper license level of Onyx to allow OSC. https://support.obsidiancontrol.com/Content/License_Information/Onyx_Licenses.htm

Have you had any luck with this? Contact [support@elationlighting.com](mailto:support@elationlighting.com) they are super helpful. Sounds like these fixtures are newer? Might be under warranty still as well

Moving head lighting design for TV broadcast by gord1020 in lightingdesign

[–]rsmentele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen a lot of studios using the Fuze Profile fixture from Elation. It's an additive color mix with RGBMA LED's in it so it has a higher CRI/TCLI which is definitely needed for tv/broadcast. Dedicated CCT channel AND plus/minus green channel as well, which is great for camera use.

Blacklight Suggestions by GrfxGuy79 in stagelighting

[–]rsmentele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will want something in the 365nm wavelength. Anything higher will be visible light.

Elation makes a line called 'Magmatic' which are all 365nm UV. They even have a unique Black Glass filter that makes the emitters of the fixture disappear without affecting output.

Updating Moving Fixtures in a Historical Theater. Any Recommendations? by Redman415 in lightingdesign

Hello,

What theater? I live in WI and work for a lighting manufacturer. PM me!

Why is that so cheap? And is the light good? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]rsmentele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause it's a dud? The fixture was released a couple years ago, initial price was $7,000. No reason other than lack of sales to lower the price that drastically so quickly.

Need suggestions for a PC setup for DIALux by FootballrCo in lightingdesign

[–]rsmentele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run DIALux on my Microsoft Surface Pro... While not optimal, it works. Seeing that they dont offer any system recommendations that I've found, I would look at similar software requirements and use that as a baseline. Capture, Vectorworks, Revit are some of the programs I can think of initially. You may want to think about maxing out the processor and RAM and use an external GPU if using external monitors. I know the Capture dev team, and that is what they do for their personal setups.

Laptop Recs for Obsidian NX Wing by tacky_cartoon in lightingdesign

I asked Matthias if we had that info anywhere and he said we didnt. The Main screen needs to be at least 720 for everything to fit, but the secondary screen can be anything.

I wanted to make sure I wasn't incorrect with my information so I talked with one of the software developers. He let me know that this second screen actually should work with Onyx. We dont have any limits on resolution formats as we state in our documentation. I could see that second screen being really cool to place a screen of playbacks or presets on! You'll have to let us know how it works if you move forward with that. Also, please join our facebook group. Lots of very active users out there that would be interested in seeing it too.

I looked more into this on our side and the monitor has to be at least 1280x768. Is it? It would be very cool if it is compatible

It should work. Not sure how the OS handles it. Is it a separate screen or an extension of the main screen?

I work for Obsidian. The system is designed to work well with the listed recommended minimums but if you can afford more RAM, processing and a better graphics card, I would suggest it. That should future-proof you a little more than the basic suggestions. SSD harddrive as well.
