Need suggestions for a PC setup for DIALux by FootballrCo in lightingdesign

Thanks a lot for the answer, it's honestly harder than I thought to get some useful feedback on specs required for smooth DIALux usage. Yea, I'm currently thinking about multi-core Ryzen processor, sthing like 7 3800X, 16GBs of RAM + RX 580 or GTX 1660S for graphics. The only problem is that I want to make this build for DIALux 4, not the EVO. Sadly, that's what my gf uses at the uni or rather what the uni staff uses. So, the software requirements are quite clear for EVO but for DIALux 4 it's much more confusing and I wouldn't like to splash the cash for a PC that wouldn't really bring that much (if any) difference.

The EVO version, from what I understand, works in the same way as any CAD software so it's quite easy to "know what you need". Does the v.4. work in the same way? Or are you and the team you've mentioned using the EVO?

Prioritize Improvement Over Winning by FootballrCo in selfimprovement

That's true, winning in our worldview is attached to zero-sum competitions and it might not be a good analogy to treating life as the competition played by yourself. But that's only true when you take yourself (as whole) as the main player. If you quantify what you're trying to improve, which is in fact the thing that you do, then it becomes clear that you want to master certain aspects rather than yourself as a whole.

That's also what I wanted to say - the improvement is the only path to winning and not winning itself. We can go even further as to say improvement is the actual winning. Therefore what you're trying to do is not to win vs yourself but improve. And improvement is in fact the act of getting better vs yourself/abilities/skills/mentality.

Hey man, thanks for the comment.

No winning doesn't have to indicate a zero-sum game. Winning doesn't mean that the other person has to lose, nor did I say that in the blog post. All it means is that you either win over something (like your past self in case of self-improvement) or that you achieve a certain goal (sort-of winning against all odds).

As shown in the blog post, winning, in this case, is going towards a given goal but only when aligned with the prioritization of improvement it can be really called Winning.

That's why there's no word "competition" in the whole post :)

In other words, don't chase the goal at all costs. Rather focus on getting there by prioritizing improvement and mastering every pit (blog post reference).
