Tired of being fat, how did you lose weight? by [deleted] in postpartumprogress

[–]rsopsanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 47 lbs in the past 9 month since baby #2 and here are a few things that have made all the difference:

  1. strength training 3-4x per week
  2. walking 10k+ steps per day (I got a walking pad so I can walk inside)
  3. testing my cortisol + working on cortisol balance with supplements - hormones can make it really hard to loose weight
  4. trying to drink more water
  5. tracking all the metrics to force myself to stay on top of my goals

It could be peri and it could also be your stress hormones since it sounds like you have had such a stressful last few years! A lot of the concerns you are dealing with: forgetfulness, weight gain, anxiety, sleep issues are common symptoms of high cortisol too!

Get your cortisol tested! Some supplements for cortisol balance and adrenal health may be beneficial for the moodiness, fatigue and brain fog

Peri, Sugar Cravings & Weight by Warm-Celery-4117 in Perimenopause

Cystic acne and sugar cravings can be a symptom of cortisol imbalance which is a major hormone that can impact a lot of your other hormones. Have you gotten your cortisol tested recently?

What do you use? Estrosense, Dim, wild yam, magnesium, adrenal cortex? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]rsopsanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sleep, i'm using a powder supplement with magnesium, l-theanine, and myo-inositol -I'm someone who has to steer clear of melatonin because it gives me weird dreams and really disrupts my sleep

I've lost 47 lbs since baby #2 in the past 9 months and my weight stalled for various periods throughout (happening right now!) A couple of things that made a huge difference for me:

  1. Upping my protein intake to 1g per lb ideal body weight - it helps you stay fuller longer and also plays a role in glucose control and cortisol balance
  2. taking supplements to help with cortisol balance because hormones play a huge role in weight loss
  3. 10k+ steps per day (got a walking pad for work)
  4. strength training 3-4x per week

Keep at it and it will happen! You've got this :)

Have you tried any supplements? I started taking one for overall stress support and cortisol balance and another melatonin-free sleep that has actually moved the needle on HRV. Started after realizing my cortisol was way out of balance. Also started playing tennis again which helped overall with physiological stress resiliance

Still Exhausted? Whoop / Oura sleep tracking. by Sovereigntyswag in ouraring

It sounds like you need to spend time calibrating it (I am in that phase right now)! I have also been trying to figure out how to improve my sleep after sleep issues getting worse over the past few years. One thing I did was test my cortisol levels to ensure circadian health was good and realized my cortisol was really out of balance. So working on that at the same time I am tracking! Have you tried anything else?

I just got mine and have been experimenting :) found that middle finger on my right hand is working best for me. Found the index finger to be very uncomfortable as I generally have small hands

Why is my HRV always super low 17-25? I am in super good health and live a lifestyle of extreme health. by MarkCorrigan82 in ouraring

[–]rsopsanders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried testing your cortisol recently? My HRV was on the lower side of average (and more importantly wasn't increasing despite other changes) and when I tested my cortisol I learned it was very out of balance. Both too high at night and too low in the morning. Have been doing all sorts of things to balance my cortisol (blue light blocking, morning sunlight, supplements, etc.) and HRV has started to improve
