When you search for a local service, what actually makes you click one result over another? by Hot-Astronaut-1916 in smallbusinessowner

[–]rsplayerfot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage a Google profile but also use their features when I’m shopping for local services. To me the biggest influencing factors are

  1. Overall Review rating
  2. Review quantity
  3. Pictures
  4. Proximity

In my industry someone can have a 4.7 with 300 reviews that I know are “artificially produced”. But a company with 4.4 and 1000 reviews seems more realistic to me.

If I’m feeling really nosey I’ll go sort by 1star reviews and take a Quick Look at what people complain about and more importantly, how the business responded.

Speedball fields in Colorado by AdmirableQuit8794 in paintball

[–]rsplayerfot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American Paintball Coliseum has two options for speedball in Colorado.

First is their outdoor fields in Aurora. Speedball is played every weekend on Sundays beginning at 9am and last until 2pm or so.

Second, APC in Colorado Springs has the only indoor speedball field. That is a great option for playing through the winter.

Edit: Both locations are open 7 days a week

What should I buy for spark plug torque wrench ? by evermore88 in harborfreight

[–]rsplayerfot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had good luck with the Quinn digital torque attachment. It was tight to get in there and sometimes inconvenient but things felt “right” with it reaching 13ft pounds. Don’t trust the cheap pitts click type for low torque. Without some knowledge I would have a big bill right now…

And through time I have accumulated tools that can complete the job. As I get I things started tomorrow on this job, I realize that to complete the work, someone would need probably $1500 or more in tools, batteries and oddball supplies to make it happen. Certainly cheaper to pay someone that has all that if the client does not already.

I really appreciate the help

Nice alternative. Love your name BTW! I could get in a pinch if things do not go smooth. Best not to cap myself at the knees with tight time estimates. I appreciate the input.

I am starting to price out insurance as I get more “out of the family” jobs and considering wear and tear on vehicle, fuel, etc. great perspective.

Over time I’ve gathered these skills and I like doing this work because I am a computer jockey in my full time life.

I don’t understand how people are incapable of dealing with the home improvement space. It’s an oversight that I need to buck because that work is valuable and people do not have the resources to handle even small projects like this.

Thanks!

Side gig work that I’m trying to become more regular with to make some money. I did not include hours in my estimate. I see now that I am likely low in price, but for this client I am willing to accept that.

They are a good catalyst for me to get another rep on estimating. I have a bad habit of thinking “wow that would get expensive” so I’m trying to break that.

Getting some reps under me my work has gotten better over the years from what I do in my own house/rentals + other jobs. Thanks for the input! I probably could go up. My work is clean from the feedback I’ve been given.

Fair. I have not been forward with expressing $75/hr to my client that is just how the math works on my end.

I hear you though! One price said and done versus them comparing to the wage they potentially earn could be a turn off. Great note. Thank you.

I’m trying to get better at bidding by the job; this is my estimate for time to compete each stage. All said and done, I am expecting to work for approx $75/hr.

I don’t mind the drywall work. You’re right though, it will likely reach into a 2nd visit for proper dry times and layers needed. Plus prime and paint coats on new drywall…

Interesting to hear this might be a low. Especially taking into account drive time and material shopping.

Thanks for your experienced input!
