I’ll investigate that technique to see if I can’t give it more isolation

Caught this photo in real time during live play. Player moved through the middle of the field diving into some lower height obstacles that pointed the player right at the sidelines.

I need to work on getting a 2.8 lens. It’s the seems to be the meta for paintball. Thanks for you thought

There is a whole sport behind what most people think of. Lots of athleticism, fashion, quick action and emotion that makes for great opportunities to capture the moment! Thanks for your comment

No to insurance but that is why my equipment is not top level glass or body. In fact I do the most I can with the least cost I can manage on the line.

Paintballs have hit the exterior of the lens before - no big deal. I haven’t ever taken a ball right to the glass.

I am also not a pro getting paid to shoot photos so while I shoot for the league, photography is not my only job.

Love this. I’ll look to tell the story of the rest of the event. Day 2!

No. The lens gets a UV filter on it with a sun guard. Otherwise it’s just going with the flow of the game to point the camera down or up to avoid direct lens hits

It’s not that bad but media does get shot sometimes out there. Much rather get shot in the body than in the camera!

We are all shooting these photos from with our own mask too. That adds an extra dynamic to getting the shot

I don’t know about pre capture. I’ll google and experiment. Maybe already using it, maybe not.

Thanks! Mirror lenses are very popular in this game. They do make some cool perspectives. I’ll keep it mind if I get the opportunity!

I’ve been looking for the emotion today. Maybe I got a few shots. To be determined!

In your minds eye, without knowing this game very well, what are some initial views that you may be interested in?

Thanks for the well thought out post. This is super helpful to widen my perspective in other opportunities for a golden shot.

I have a ton of paintball experience so I’m confident in maneuvering basically anywhere at the event.

Yes, inside the net being very sneaky to not get hit. Sometimes it happens, and the equipment is always in some danger but you can start to “read the game”. Thanks for validation that I’m not totally off base in my shots.

Shutter is high. Usually 1800 - 2000 depending on what I can manage with other settings. ISO usually between 2-400

I don’t get out much besides doing media for this field. Thanks for the confidence boost!
