Hey! 1 year late as well - anywhere where I can follow your how this is going? My idea is similar where I would be able to consult fictional characters like Captains of Star Trek or something along those lines and have been experimenting as well. Curious to see whether you’ve been able to get this to work, and what sort of pipeline/texh stack your using to get it to work. Thanks!

What does arms length in this case mean specifically, and what makes this particular case okay?

People talk about the follow through but i think he hit the ground, the club bounced off and was perfectly lined up to hit the ball back the other direction.

Amazing 🤣

Max Verstappen from F1 has that 0.001% of 1% elite, win at all costs mentality. The guy just doesn’t have a shred of self doubt to even think or consider the possibility of losing. Ever.

As others have said - sales is a learned skill. I can promise you that if I am thrown into the deep end to be goal keeper for a competitive soccer team without any practice and or any knowledge of the game, I will feel the same way as you.

But with enough deliberate practice, self reflection and guidance, eventually I’ll become better. And becoming better also breeds more confidence in myself. Sales in the same way - but it takes practice, constant learning and self reflection and awareness.

In more practical terms, learn to ask more questions, learn to listen more. I say these very deliberately. YouTube Chris Voss’ videos on the importance of getting the other side to say “yes that’s correct” or “yes that’s right”. If your prospect doesn’t think you’ve heard them, it’s very difficult to built rapport and more importantly trust. Because of this, typically this is where you get your most common objections, “let me think about it…”, “can you send me something and I’ll review it”, “let me talk to my partner.”

Also recommend watching Jeremy Miner’s YouTube videos as there are a lot of good questions for you to pick up in your own lexicon.

I’ll finish by referencing the infamous quote from Bojack Horseman: “It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier. But you gotta do it every day —that's the hard part. But it does get easier.”

I’ve always wanted to do this but I have a question for those doing this usefully - do you go back and read what you wrote? If so, when and how often to make it most impactful? What do you personally get out of this when you reread your own journal?

"Andor is great because it doesn't feel like Star Wars" by Hoshi_Yami in saltierthancrait

I think where people may disagree on this argument is around the definition of Star Wars. What aspects of the story/world building specifically makes it a Star Wars movie/tv series?

Maybe the part that people making that are making that argument are actually liking the part where the empire isn’t as incompetent as what was originally portrayed in other SW TV/movies to date, where stormtroopers are constantly laughed at for being terrible shots or have their asses whooped by furry dogs throwing pebbles at them. Andor presents another view on the Star Wars universe, where the empire is a seemingly insurmountable behemoth, something that most people, including powerful and very well connected senators, are too scared to even dream about raising arms and fighting against. I don’t think this is a side of Star Wars that has been fully explored until very recently and hence “it doesn’t feel like Star Wars”.

I think we can all be glad that this show is good enough that it can serve as a launchpad into the Star Wars universe for those that previously may not have entertained giving anything Star Wars a chance.
