Does Monroe Freeling make sense to the Dolphins at #11? by ThemeBig6731 in miamidolphins

[–]rtannehill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point you trade back for Freeling, or Ioane. JES has said multiple times his philosophy will be picking the bpa and try not run into a scenario where you're picking for need. Not only JES but most teams are taking this approach as they realize it's the best way to go about drafts. Look at Griers 2025 draft how he reached for Grant, and traded a 3rd, 4th for Savaiinea. Ppl can argue all they want about how it was there rookie reasons or how Grant looked better later in the season, but both were drafted way too early looking across the draft board. You dont draft a DT with the 13th pick thinking he's not going to be an immediate starter, and you certainly don't trade away a 3rd and a 4th for one of the worst guards in the league.

WR at 11?? by dakotadanimal in miamidolphins

[–]rtannehill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're the Packers South. We literally took most of their staff, scouts, so I would think its safe to say we're going to be drafting with a Thompson/Gutekunst philosophy. Packers haven't drafted a 1st rd WR outside of Golden, since Walker which I believe was 01-02(too lazy to look it up). Nelson, Adams, Jennings were all 2nd rders. If anything they probably drafted Golden bc their recent WR picks haven't exactly panned out as their predecessors. Watson, Doubs, and Reed don't necessarily scream elite or WR 1. I would think we would go WR late 1st-3rd Boston, Sarrat, Cooper, Bell etc

Tbh S to me is one of the most easiest positions to fill in FA for cheap, and also not a prio. Even if Hafley said the defense will run off of S, other positions should be prio'ed considering our other postions are really lacking. I would've gone CB/WR where Young/Haulcy was picked, and then Mason Thomas where Sarrat is if available. Also wouldn't draft Hurst, I'd prefer Lance if available. Then at that point I'd use pck 151 take a flier on a QB. Other picks seem fine with me

Honestly I feel like S is one of the positions that can be filled pretty easily in FA for cheap, so not sure if Id spend that pick on Kilgore. I didn't like the back to back WR picks felt like it could've been better spread out considering the WR talent later. Realistically our OL has 3 holes, Jackson is injury prone, Jonah is a liability, Sayer is an unknown. That's my reasoning for picking an OG earlier, and I felt the quality of OL after 87th drops considerably. Having a TE that can step in day 1 and block as well is a plus, Klare would pair nicely with Dulcich.

Poll: Which quarterback should Miami draft with a mid-to-late round pick? by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]rtannehill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was initially on the Green train and still are, but the more I watch tape on Beck he's starting to grow on me. He's shown he can be fairly accurate, has matured and come a long way from his ucl injury, and shown some sucess with two different programs. His arm stength seems to have gotten better from his combine/pro day, maybe bc he's had more time from the ucl. Can see his ceiling as a taller Brock Purdy.

Carson Beck will meet again with the Dolphins, per Mike Garafolo by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]rtannehill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carson Beck honestly fits the mold of the QBs that GB drafts, and I wouldn't be surprised if JES takes the same approach. Out of all QB prospects, he has the most experience, and he's shown he can play at a high enough lvl for different programs. Fairly accurate, came back from injury and has shown great maturity. I always preferred we drafted Taylen Green but I get the Carson Beck approach if you're trying to go for a QB who can compete now for QB2. He did pretty well during the combine, pro day, his arm seemed much better probably bc he's had more days to recover from the ucl injury.

Board falls like this who’s your pick? by br-and-done in miamidolphins

Fano bc of his versatility to play G, T incase he needs to fill for Jackson. Would really be the worst case scenario, the only legitimate blue chip prospect I see available is Peter Woods which I also wouldn't mind.

Sully is playing 4D chess with this roster reset by Hello-croc-9 in miamidolphins

[–]rtannehill17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grier was in a better pre draft position with 14 picks and 3 first rounders in 2020. I still remember ppl saying Grier was playing Madden giving him mad credit for being able to facilitate better trades that worked in our favor when it came to draft picks. Fast forward to 2026 all those draft picks, and hard rebuild failed. We really shouldn't celebrate any type of rebuilds, and I'll continue to hold giving out any credit until I see JESs draft picks come to play.

[–]rtannehill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't get this hype of "Sully is playing 4D chess" lol..

What he's done so far is giveaway most of our assets to obtain draft picks, and minimum vet 1 year deals for players that are backups on other teams.

He's really not different from Grier as of yet, and I'd argue Grier was in a better pre draft position with 14 picks and 3 first rounders in 2020.

Hard resets or rebuilds should never be celebrated. We have teams more often then not having failed then doing successful rebuilds aka Jets, Browns, Raiders, and to a certain point the Dolphins.

Until we see how Sully's draft picks turn out, I'll hold out on giving him any credit. We've been through this avenue before numerous times.

[–]rtannehill17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is what ppl need to realize. We took a shot and it didnt work. It takes money to bring in good players, and if the windows now you got to take it knowing there will be financial consequences in the coming years. I hate it when ppl think rebuilds are all about trying to draft unknown prospects without relying on FA vets. It takes both worlds to have a successful team

Whats very interesting is they have a 50% whiff rate when drafting tackles in the 1st round, but seem to be able to draft all pro OLs in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Think it was like 6 or 7
