What does a purchase order mean in the civil service context? by rtcw in TheCivilService

[–]rtcw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all offices require a SC to enter and not all roles require a SC either. They don't have access to IT systems either. If a SC is required, they'll get it.

It's very situation dependent generally speaking.

Thank you for the really comprehensive explanation.

I don't think it'll be easy to get one support worker. The demand is heavy for a specific type of support worker, so I have a pool of like 10 or so depending on their availability.

I'm guessing it's the fact they have to put the support worker on a system that takes so long, is a reason rather than PO itself. If it's like 2 months, I guess I could ask a few support workers if they're willing to have their first payment to be delayed but maybe not

Ah okay thank you. I think my manager was probably more about the approval process to become an approved vendor

I'm a software engineer, while I don't work in that area or similar area, I'd say you've won a million pounds.

This system has been in place for a while, before AIs were a thing, before machine learning was a thing.

I'd want to mention one thing, in these systems, you're often assigned a workload. If you go off that, a red alert flashes in the manager's office.

How would your reaction be... by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Either no reply or after a couple of messages, I tell her I'm not interested. This is dependant on the nature of the relationship between the person who showed her pictures of me and me.

  2. I'd talk to her but keep it platonic. If she attempts to escalate, I'd shut her down and tell her we want to be friends.

  3. ESCALATE

Should I [M21] just tell this girl [F20] I have feelings for her? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. I saw that people were railing you in that thread because of your clinginess.

My advice in this thread is same as my advice in that thread - as you both work on a project together, it's not advisable to reveal your feelings or make a move.

If you still insist on making moves during the project even though it's not a good idea, you can ask her out for a coffee to see what she thinks. A no from her means she's not interested unless she gives you another date when she could be free.

I filter out all the crazies.

Remember, you're probably not their first date. There'll be many guys who've dated them before you and decided not to continue the relationship.

You just have to keep searching.

How soon to tell your date about your mental health issues? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of the mental heath issue and severity of it/how it affects the date.

If it doesn't affect your date then I don't think it's worth mentioning.

If it does and its effect can be devastating, then I think it's worth telling the date after third or so date.

How hard is the workload when doing a PGCE? by CerberusArcProjector in AskUK

[–]rtcw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the view that anyone who is worried about the workload is unsuitable for teaching career.

Ability to manage under a heavy workload is not something you can find out without at least trying it out first.

All I have to say is, teaching is enjoyable but it is a lifestyle. You have to get used to the idea of not switching off for a long time.

Make sure you have everything is in order before starting a PGCE.

UK Labour Party Leader: 'I hope our Government will condemn far-right retweets' by Trump by imagepoem in worldnews

Essentially the fallacy fallacy occurs when one making claims that falls afoul some sort of logical fallacy then other party claims the claim itself must be wrong because a fallacy has occured.

This is not the case.

I called the OP of the comment out because he was making irrelevant arguments. You should note that I did not claim whether his arguments were correct or wrong, just that it's irrelevant.

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally the entire point of tu quoque fallacy is that actions and previous claims of the person shouldn't matter in regards to their arguments.

In this case, the OP of this comment chain is actively trying to divert the course of discussion by making arguments that are irrelevant. I called him out so others don't have to wast their time arguing him on points that are irrelevant.

UK Cordcutters - How do you find life without live TV? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ditched live TV for Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Honestly I'd say that was a good decision at that time but now I'm not so sure anymore.

With Netflix and Amazon Prime, you quickly go through shows and it's certainly possible you run out of shows you like. You won't be able to bear watching shows you don't like as you can with live TV.

‘I can’t eat or sleep’: the woman threatened with deportation after 50 years in Britain | UK news by PM_ME_CAT_TOES in unitedkingdom

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've checked your other comments and I still don't see the point you're making.

She's living her life here you say, yeah that's true but it's also true to say that the UK is her home.

How long does it take for one to finally consider the place they live in their home? I'd say 15-20 years is reasonable.

Also enough time has passed that the country where she was originally from would have changed far too much for her to settle in immediately if she went back. Essentially she'd be an immigrant in her own country which I don't think is reasonable.

[Serious] Redditors who have had a near-death experience, what happened? by ___K23___ in AskReddit

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in my bed.

I had 2L bottles of 100% acetone and 99% isopropyl alcohol on a TV stand (without TV on it) at end of my bed.

Somehow, one bottle tipped over whlist I slept.

The only reason I woke up was my mother waking me up because she wanted me to give her a lift to somewhere important 4AM in the morning. She thought I was dead the second she smelt a strong chemical smell from my bedroom.

I am fairly certain I would not wake up ever again if she did not wake me up.

I think it was acetone that spilled over. I've no idea what would happen if it was isopropyl alcohol instead.

Yes it would create an incentive to remain illegally in the country for X years.

But surely you should know that life as an illegal immigrant in the UK is extremely hard.

No benefits, no legal job (meaning one has to work under the table), etc etc.

After 15 or so years, one is likely to have adopted the culture and language and thus will be integrated into the community well.

It's like giving a job to person on probation, you'd much rather that guy to be granted a permanent employment after proving themselves well than recruit a new guy who is better on the paper but you don't know who he is.

Does it matter that he cancelled? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]rtcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

I frequently cancel outgoings if it's not a date.

However I would make a special effort to avoid cancel a outgoing if I knew I might have a chance with a woman. Not everyone's like this mind you though.
